HOME FROM HOME
The buzz you can hear in the development world is coming from Greater Manchester and the work Hive Homes is doing in reinventing what it means to be a Joint Venture Partnership
For those who don’t know, Hive Homes – led by Edward Milner – is funded by 10 Greater Manchester-based Registered Providers (Great Places, Salix, Onward, Irwell Valley, Mosscare St Vincents, Bolton at Home, One Manchester, Southway, Wythenshawe Community Housing and Trafford Housing Trust) together with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) and Homes England to deliver 800 new homes across 10 sites. The partnership’s mission is not only to build great new family homes, primarily for first time buyers, but the profits are ringfenced and recycled back to investors to deliver much-needed additional affordable
Manager Marta decided they wanted to settle down after Covid struck and it stopped them from travelling with their son. So after renting a new build for a couple of years in Heywood, the family started to look seriously for a home of their own. They liked Middleton and had visited other developments in the area, but a wrong turn took them to a sign advertising the new homes at Osprey Place. Marta said, “We had been renting in Heywood and decided we wanted to throw down some roots. We had travelled all over the world with our son and when Covid hit, we weren’t able to travel so we thought we should look to buy. We went to see one development near to Osprey Place and we took a wrong turn and got lost. That’s when we saw the Hive Homes sign and my husband decided to investigate. “We wanted a new build so everything was modern and up-to-date, so my husband Karim got online and started to research the
site. As soon as the plan was available, he picked our plot as it gave us the privacy we wanted, with room for our cars and visitors and a huge garden. We reserved as soon as we could and started to think about our new home. When the show home was available, it was everything we dreamed of. “We got some good ideas about how we would furnish and decorate our home and it gave us reassurance that we had done the right thing. He was absolutely right that Osprey Place was the right spot for us. “I would recommend Hive Homes to my family and friends because they have been fantastic. We have the home we always wanted at a good price. A similar home we looked at close by was around £40,000 more expensive and not in as good a position as our home, so we are very happy.” So for more details on Hive’s ever-growing portfolio of developments, visit hive-homes.co.uk or call 0161 484 3229
