be disproven when considering actors whose tasks solely consist of embodying a character that is not their own. The theory is wholly contradicted by the performing arts as an entire genre of art. Finally, the theory demands clarification from the artist. The expressive qualities of the work, if any, must be explained to the audience in order for the artwork to be validated. Again, an additional condition of the theory is disproved as art is not always intended to be obvious or completely understood. Heavily influenced by values set in the era of Romanticism, the Transmission Theory of Art fails to encapsulate the vastness of art's changing capabilities and objectives across time. Ultimately, the theory is met with unfaltering objections that dismantle its sustainability as a legitimate measurement of art's status.
