The product is luxurious and totally unique.You certainly get a good bang for your buck as the homes come fully furnished too, and the furniture is specially made to suit the space.Then you can make it your own with accessories etc. “HOMErs is set to revolutionise the property market by providing affordable and sustainable homes. It started when Alexander wanted to support those left homeless by the war and restore as many homes for Ukrainian families as possible, but it has grown and grown. We plan to sell around 100 homes in 2024 and then grow dramatically with our Slovakian production in 2025 and beyond.”

She was going to convert other barns but she saw our home and decided that it would be a much better investment to buy our modular homes which are very quick to build and also very practical. Most importantly they cost half of what the stable renovations would require, so it all makes perfect business sense. “The UK has a huge demand for housing, whether that is for first time buyers, second steppers or for an elderly relative, as care home costs are so expensive and many people would like their loved ones close by but not living in the family home. Plus, what makes it even better you can sell the home on when you want to move it and free up the land for what’s next.” The frame is made of galvanised steel with wall panels that are light and made from thermally efficient polyurethane. They are also energy efficient, with solar panels and a soon-to-be-added battery and energy management system. Each module of the home plugs together like Lego. Chris lives in a six module version, which is 6m x 9m and 3m high plus extensive covered outdoor terraces. There is an open-plan
just two weeks it was assembled and ready for us to move in – they were even able to connect it to all our utilities. Now, we have been living there for eight months and it has been amazing. We also use it as an exhibition home for anyone to come and see it when they are interested in the business and the product, so it works very well indeed. One of the beauties of the concept is that when our renovation is finished we can easily disassemble the house and move it somewhere else, or sell to someone who can best use it next.” The factory in Kyiv now makes about 10 homes a month, which are sold in the Ukraine to displaced families often via a charity with funds to re-house displaced people. HOMErs has recently commissioned a new factory in Eastern Slovakia, which is in a great location as it is within Europe and so easier to raise investment. A good friend of Alexander has moved there to run the business which is moving fast. “We are starting to sell to businesses and have been in contact with large developers and landowners. There is a lady who lives nearby to me and has a few acres of land. She used to keep horses and have a livery but she converted one of the stables into an Airbnb which has been very successful.
