J ust as people eat with their eyes first, matters of home improvement are also decided by sight. For this reason, Closets by Design enlarged its production space and highlighted its showroom by leasing from St. John Properties, better displaying its designs and concepts to customers eager for reimagined space.

The newest of the company’s locations is at Mequon Research Center I. The center provides easy access to Interstate 43 and 41/45, providing Closets by Design installers simplified routes throughout southeastern Wisconsin. The central location also allows customers to visit the showroom while giving employees a shorter commute to work. “Mequon Research Center has a solid reputation of being a good place to locate a business,” said Cindy Gauert, vice president and owner of Closets by Design. “And we are just down the street from the new Spur 16 development that includes high-end housing, retail and restaurants.” Closets by Design’s top priorities were easy access to highways and the ability to customize its space, similar to the customization it provides customers through tailor-made organizational units. production space and added new walls to better define our showroom and front office,” Gauert said. Out of the 12,000 square feet the company leases, 8,000 of it is used for production of organizational solutions. The remaining 4,000 square feet is used for the showroom, front office, executive offices, conference room and designer workspace.

As the first Closets by Design franchise in Wisconsin, the company is already praising St. John for its practices. “St. John Properties worked with us to design the space we needed and provided attractive lease terms that helped us to get our business started,” Gauert said. “We have been pleased with how they maintain the exterior space, and

they have been responsive to any maintenance request we’ve had.”
