The Portage County Literacy Council supports adult learners in gaining essential skills for economic stability and community engagement. Funding will expand resources, enhance tutor/learner matches, and increase outreach to underserved populations, benefiting 100 learners.
The Salvation Army of Stevens Point Hope House provides shelter and meals for homeless families and individuals at the Hope Center. Funding will be used to purchase and install a commercial walk-in freezer, improving meal planning, storage, and the ability to accept more food donations, benefiting over 270 residents annually, including families and children. The Salvation Army Milk Fund ensures a reliable supply of fresh milk for the Stevens Point Hope Center, providing nourishment to vulnerable residents. Funding will purchase approximately four months of milk for daily meals, benefiting approximately 60 people served across three meals each day, including families with children.
The Wisconsin Rapids Family Center provides safe shelter and crisis services for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Grant funding will cover approximately 110 nights of stay, including food, clothing, utilities, and advocate support for victims and their children to ensure safety, healing, and empowerment.
Wood County Head Star t serves 200 children, promoting education and family empowerment. The grant will fund literacy materials, STEM kits, and outdoor equipment to enhance learning and development.
