By Jamie Barrie G eneral Mills, a Minneapolis-based multinational manufacturer and marketer of more than 89 other leading U.S. brands and numerous category leaders around the world, announce that they are purchasing Blue Buffalo Pet Products Inc, maker of natural foods and treats for dogs and cats for $40 USD per Blue Buffalo Pet Products Inc share in a deal to be valued at approximately $8 billion USD.

General Mills has said that Blue Buffalo Pet Products will be run as a new pet operating segment after the transition has been finalized by the end of this year and that it is expected to keep its Wilton, Conn., headquarters.

In 2017 Blue Buffalo Pet Products had approximately $1.3 billion USD in net sales for its Blue brand.
