In past years, up to 1,500 kids have attended Spooky Saturday. “It’s a safe, community-centred way for kids to dress up, enjoy Halloween activities, and make great memories close to home,” Kait adds. While the Great Pumpkin is not making an appear- ance, Kait promises there will be surprise special guests in the haunted hallway. Haunting Good Time Coming to Strathroy
Halloween comes early to Strath- roy again this year. Spooky Sat- urday is back for another year at the Fair Grounds Recreation Complex, Saturday, October 25, from 2 to 8 pm. “Spooky Saturday is a great event for families with young children,” explains Kait Topham, Events & Booking Coordinator with the Municipality. “It’s fun, festive, and designed to be just the right mix of silly and spooky.” Spooky Saturday began in 2023 when Halloween landed on a Tues- day. Knowing that it can be a rush
to get small kids out trick-or-treating on a school night, the Munici- pality decided to host an early Halloween on the Saturday before. Attractions at the Fair Ground include the traditional haunted hallway, costume parade, and contest. Businesses and commu- nity groups will set up trick-or-treating stations throughout the park. The Sleepy Hollow railway, operated by the Southern On- tario Live Steamers, will take kids of all ages on spooky rides. New this year is a family-friendly Halloween dance from 6 to 8 pm in the West Middlesex Memorial Centre Gymnasium. The
