Selling your home can be a very stressful process, partly because you are opening up your home for others to come in, view and criticize. Your REALTOR® is here to help you prepare and make your home appealing for the market. Start with talking to your financial advisor and mortgage broker to ensure the move makes financial sense. If you are breaking your mortgage there may be added fees or costs. Also you need to know your budget for your next home & the moving process (i.e., bridging between homes). Next, start cleaning your home; windows, furnace filters, light fixtures - the deep clean. Also ensure you have completed any outstanding repairs both inside and outside of the home. This ensures that buyers have minimal critiques and reasons to discount the price. Start purging and packing! Purge anything that you do not want to take with you to your next home. Pack anything you do not plan to use before the move! De-personalize your home - taking down family photos can be tough. However, this is temporary, to make the home as appealing as possible for your buyer. Also, tuck away valuable items in a safe & secure place.
