I was an analyst at HFF,
focused on debt and equity placement and was able to experience about six months of the CMBS boom. When the financial crisis hit in 2007, my goal was to just hang on to my job. Fortunately, I was able to keep my seat and as time progressed, my goal was to soak up as much knowl- edge about the market to learn and grow in my career. Today, my specific goals are different, but the big picture goals are the same. Not com- fortable in a steady state, I always want to be growing in my career. MAREJ

sion you are in, about your current position and why you choose the field/profes - sion you are in today? I graduated College not truly knowing what career path I wanted to follow. I had an interest in business, econom- ics and finance, but did not want to go down the path of Wall Street. I was introduced to real estate by a friend and industry veteran. Eventually I found my way into capital markets and was attracted to the combination of finance and the ‘bricks and sticks’ of real estate.
