Belgrade can now apply for the organisation of major in- ternational gatherings, and when the Sava Centar is ope- rating at full capacity, all the hotels in the capital will also be fully booked. Restaurants, carriers, providers of various services and numerous small businesses will have additional work. The renovation of the Sava Centar isn’t only important for Delta Holding, but al- so for the congress industry and the Serbian economy as a whole,” says Sava Centar CEO Kristina Milinčić. The recon- struction of the building completely preserved the centre’s original architecture, the Pritzker Architecture Prize-nomi- nated work of famous Serbian architect Stojan Maksimo- vić. The works also conserved most of its interior details and artworks. The Sava Centar is now a smart, green buil- ding that’s set to receive global ecological certification, be- coming the only congress centre in this part of Europe to be awarded such a certificate. The building is designed not only to save electricity, but also to generate it, courtesy of solar panels installed on the roof. Just as it was built with a view to the future back in 1977, today’s newly renovated Sava Centar has the same vision: to stand on the founda- tions of its glorious past and be at the centre of the biggest future events in the Serbian capital.
Following reconstruction works spanning less than two years, the congress and business section of Belgrade’s Sava Centar opened on 14 th November, with that same day marking the start of the first event for the revamped congress centre, the European Nutrition Congress, whi- ch hosted 1,500 participants. Delta Holding invested mo- re than 118 million euros in the reconstruction project, re- sulting in a modern, sustainable facility with a significantly increased capacity that enables Belgrade to host events that bring together more than 5,000 attendees. The Sava Centar is now spatially divided into three functional sections: congress, business and cultu- re zones. The reorganising of the space has in- creased the congress capacity from 16 to 46 halls, including the unique Immersive Hall. The Main Congress Hall will now be able to accommodate more than 1,000 vi- sitors, while the number of seats in the Blue Hall, which is due for completion by the summer of 2024, will be increased from 3,672 to 4,000. BAD GASTEIN A ski holiday in Bad Gastein has a somewhat slower pace. Teeming with natural thermal waters, here it’s all about the spas, and there’s no short- age of them. The skiing is geared to- wards spending all day cruising the red runs around resort. It is the best option for intermediate skiers who like a little relaxation with their ski cruising. • Bad Gastein is located 78 kilometres from Salzburg.
