Praznično pić e Egnog
SASTOJCI: 4 žumanca, 4 belanca, 100 g e era, 2 ča i- ce belog ruma, 3 ča ice viskija, 4 dl mleka, 4 dl slatke pavla- ke, cimet PRIPREMA: Odvojte žumanca i belanca. U dublju posudu si- pajte belanca i na najsporijoj brzini ih ulupajte u sneg. U žu- manca dodajte 50 g e era i sjedinite. U sneg od belanaca polako dodajte 50 g e era dok mikser i dalje radi na najspo- rijoj brzini, zatim isto tako polako dodajte i umu ena žuman- ca. Zatim dodajte alkohol, mleko i 2 dl slatke pavlake, takođe veoma polako, me aju i mikserom. U drugoj posudi ulupajte slatku pavlaku, pa ka ikom dajte u smesu. Pospite cimetom. INGREDIENTS: 4 egg yolks, 4 egg whites, 100g of sugar, 2 shot glasses of white rum, 3 shot glasses of whiskey, 400ml of milk, 400ml of sweetened cream, cinnamon PREPARATION: Pour the egg whites into a deep bowl and whisk slowly until they form stiff peaks, though not excessive- ly thick. Add 50 g of sugar to the yolks and mix until the mix- ture takes on a uniform colour. Slowly add 50 g of sugar to the thickened egg whites while continuing to mix slowly, then just as slowly add the previously mixed egg yolks and sugar. Fold slowly and lightly, so as not to lose the airiness. Next, while the mixer is still running on the slowest setting, add the alco- hol, milk and 200 ml of sweetened cream, also very slowly. In a separate bowl, gently mix the sweetened whipping cream. Fi- nally, use a spoon to gradually add the whipped cream to the mixture. Serve in punch cups, or use regular coffee cups, and cover with a sprinkling of ground cinnamon. Oni koji znaju tvrde da je egnog toliko popu- laran u Americi i Engleskoj jer ispunjava sve kriterijume onoga što zovemo „grešnim zadovoljstvom“ – to je zapravo neka vrsta alkohol- ne poslastice. I mada ovo božićno piće nije naročito prisutno i popu- larno u Srbiji, evo nekoliko zani- mljivih činjenica... 1. U Engleskoj u 14. veku samo imucni su mogli da priušte egnog pošto su mleko i jaja bili retki i sku- pi. To se promenilo u Americi jer su Amerikanci imali svoje pilice i go- veda, pa je mućkanje likera od jaja i mleka bio lak podvig. 2. Nazdravite čašom egnoga Džordžu Vašingtonu. Zapisi poka- zuju da je prvi predsednik SAD po- setiocima služio ovo pice, a pošto je

When toasting your glass of eggnog this holiday season, raise a glass to George Washington. Re- cords indicate that the first presi- dent served an eggnog-like drink to his visitors. And since the gen- eral was a wealthy man, he didn’t skimp on the booze. Washington’s potent recipe included three differ- ent types of liquor – rye whiskey, rum and sherry. 3. With no hard and fast rules, eggnog can be made with any num- ber of different distilled spirits, or none at all, known as “virgin eggnog”.
