Managing partner and vice president Krista Wieder ex- plained the reason behind this strategy saying, “The way we do real estate development can have a major impact on the economic health of our cities. By creating social value through creative and innova- tive solutions, Social Impact Real Estate is becoming a win- win solution to some of our most seemingly intractable urban problems, particularly in redeveloping communities. By seeing the big picture op- portunities of the job market, housing market and related social needs, our plans ensure that there are no gaps that may have thwarted some of the previous, less comprehen- sive yet well-meaning real estate development efforts.” Managing partner and pres- ident Frank Robinson added, “Kairos continues to see itself as a catalyst for equitable yet profitable development. We do see these two as opposing forces, but two sides of the same coin that enhance place- based economic development.” Kairos partners, Robinson and Wieder each formerly had their own firms but decided to merge in 2016 as they realized their economic development strate- gies were well-aligned and their complementary strengths pro- duced an undeniable synergy. The two met and became friends while pursuing their MBA degrees in Economic
