Behind the Smiles With Morgan

My journey at Your Oviedo Dentist began 7 years ago as a patient coordinator. Looking back, it’s amazing to see that I have grown right alongside the practice that I now help lead. Believe it or not, becoming the business

our patients but our team members on the importance of oral health and its role in our overall health

In those years I spent as a treatment coordinator, I was also working toward my degree at the University of Central Florida (Go Knights!). Upon graduating I knew that I wanted to continue with this company as I saw the important strides we were making in the lives of our patients and community. As the practice continued to grow, Dr. Lopez was looking for someone to not only help oversee the daily operations of our practice, but to help instill into the growing team the same passion I found. So I began my role as business manager. I’ve been a part of the team for seven years now (to the month, in fact!), and if there is one thing that has remained the same in these past several years, it’s the positive working environment Dr. Lopez has facilitated. We’re all working toward the same goal — delivering stellar patient care — and it’s a goal that brings us together! And it’s a goal that I hope you feel every time you visit the office. And while the company has grown leaps and bounds in the last seven years, I too have reached so many milestones in my journey here. I love to remind Dr. Lopez of all the amazing life experiences I’ve had while growing my career at Your Oviedo Dentist! From graduating college to getting married to becoming a homeowner, I am so thankful for the many opportunities that have come my way!

manager for a dental practice was never something I knew my future would hold. Rather, the position evolved from years of dedication, hard work, and hustle, helping Dr. Lopez execute his vision for Your Oviedo Dentist. I was hired as a patient coordinator where I learned how to perform the daily operations of a dental practice, but more importantly, I learned how much I enjoyed getting to know each patient who walked through the door. It wasn’t long before I realized that my passion was helping patients not only feel comfortable in a dental office, but helping change the dental experience in a way that made them actually want to return every six months. It was this position that helped me realize my future was in the dental field! As I gained more experience I was given the opportunity to transition into the role of treatment coordinator. I began working one on one with patients to help them overcome their fears and anxieties about dental work so that restoring their smiles became something exciting rather than a chore that would be postponed until the inevitable toothache. I was able to teach the importance of preventative care and found a new passion educating not only

Grow Crystals With Your Kids

Keep Your Child’s Mind ActiveWith This Fun Summer Experiment!

A mentally sedentary summer can cause

eggshells in hot water, which allows you to pull the skin out of the inside. Place the shells in an egg carton lined with wax paper to hold them upright. Boil the water and pour half a cup into each coffee mug, followed by ¼ cup of one of the soluble materials, stirring until it dissolves. Keep adding the solid slowly until the water is supersaturated — this simply means that the water has absorbed all it can and any additional solid won’t dissolve. Then, add food coloring to the solutions. See what creative color combinations your child can come up with. Carefully pour the solution into an eggshell, filling it as full as you can without the solution overflowing or the egg tipping over. As the water evaporates (be patient!) crystals will begin to form inside the eggshells. But how? As the water is heated, it expands, allowing more space for the dissolved solution. When it cools and evaporates, that space goes away, and the solids are forced to become solid again. See, science is fun and educational! More Than a Cosmetic Upgrade The Health Benefits of Proper Alignment

Everyone wants their smile to look great, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the benefits of straight teeth. Good alignment brings a wealth of health benefits in addition to cosmetic ones. Invisalign has made straightening your teeth easier and more discreet than ever before. Now, people of all ages have the chance to receive the full-body improvement that straightening offers. One of the chief benefits of straight teeth is that they are easier to clean. Crowding and misalignment can make it difficult to remove particles of food, which creates a breeding ground for bacteria. These bacteria cause plaque to buildup and can lead to tooth decay if unattended. Invisalign aligners are removable, so brushing won’t be encumbered by the wires and brackets of traditional braces.

spacing. Those with poor alignment are at a higher risk for periodontal diseases like gingivitis. You might be surprised to learn that the same bacteria that show up in gum disease have been found in open-heart surgery

patients. Too often, people think of the teeth as independent from the body, when really they are interconnected with the rest of your health. A perfect smile will also lead to increased self-confidence, giving you all the more reason to smile. Don’t think of a Invisalign as simply a way to improve the way your smile looks. Instead, see it as a way to upgrade your oral health and the health of your entire body.

The health benefits of straight teeth extend to your gums as well. Swollen, red gums and bleeding can result from improper

Destination: Happy People Visit the Happiest Places in the World — It’s Contagious

Visit a hustling, bustling tourist trap and what do you get? Crowds of competitive travelers and a local populace that is sick to death of them. Visit a place with happy people, and you get good service, friendly faces, and you’ll learn firsthand what Harvard researchers affirmed in a 2012 study: Happiness is contagious. Luckily for the average traveler, the places that topped a nationwide Gallup poll and the United Nations’ annualWorld Happiness Report have plenty to offer in addition to cheerful locals.

THE HAPPIEST COUNTRY INTHEWORLD Denmark has long been the standard-bearer in this category, but this year it relinquished the title to its Scandinavian sister. Norway is home to some of the most breathtaking vistas on Earth, most notably its western fjords like the world-famous Geirangerfjord and Nærøfjord. For the citywanderer, you’ll find choice seaside restaurants and walkable streets in towns like Bergen, the country’s second-largest city, which sports rainbow architecture and a 15th- centurywaterfront.
