Popeye Village Popeye Village, aka Sweethav- en Village, was built as the film set for the 1980 musical comedy film Popeye, produced by Paramount Pictures and Walt Disney Produc- tions and starring Robin Williams. It is located in Anchor Bay and was constructed in 1979. The vil- lage consists of 19 wooden build- ings. It has today been convert- ed into a tourist attraction and is open to the public year-round as an open-air museum and fami- ly entertainment complex. Enter- ing this captivating mini village, you will be greeted by Popeye the Sailor Man and his friends, who will be your hosts and will enter- tain you throughout your visit. The whole family can be part of a unique filming experience, with the animation crew providing an opportunity to see yourself on the big screen. You can also enjoy a number of other attractions, in- cluding the popular Santa’s toy town, which is a unique attrac- tion in Malta where you can get
a glimpse of Santa’s elves prepar- ing toys for the festive season. Giants from Gozo When you’ve had your fill of cartoon-fuelled fun, head to see some giants! Well, not real ones. Malta has a temple complex on the island of Gozo that dates back to Neolithic times. The Gganti- ja Temples are named after the massive stones that make up their walls. When first discovered by locals, the people could only im- agine that these structures had been built by giants! You can vis- it the two temples and tour ruins that date back to 3600 BC, making the Ggantija Temples older than Stonehenge and even the Egyp- tian Pyramids! Odyssey’s Cave The story continues, and you can tell your kids about the glori- ous Odyssey. Calypso’s Cave over- looks the red sands of Gozo’s fin- est beach and is purportedly the cave referred to by Homer in his epic poem The Odyssey. Accord- ing to the story, it was in this cave that the beautiful nymph Calyp- so held Odysseus imprisoned for seven years as a “prisoner of love”. Okay, you don’t have to go into de- tails when explaining to the kids, but this site nonetheless makes for a great excursion.

Nalazi se u Ankor beju i izgrađen je 1979. godine, a selo se sastoji od devetna- est drvenih zgrada. Cela po- rodica može da bude deo jedinstve- nog iskustva snimanja sa ekipom animacije, što će vam pružiti priliku da sebe i klince gledate na velikom ekranu. Može se uživati i u brojnim drugim atrakcijama, uključujuci sve popularniji Deda Mrazov grad igra- čaka, što je jedinstvena atrakcija te vrste na Malti, gde možete videti kako vilenjaci pripremaju igračke za prazničnu sezonu. Divovi sa Gozoa A kada vam bude dosta crtaća, zaputite se da vidite divove! Malta na ostrvu Gozo ima kompleks hra- mova koji datira iz neolita. Hramo- vi Džgantija dobili su imena po ma- sivnom kamenju koji čini njihove zidove. Kada su ih lokalni stanov- nici otkrili, jedino što im je delova- lo smisleno jeste da su te struktu- re izgradili divovi. Danas možete posetiti dva hrama i prošetati kroz
ruševine iz 3.600 p. n. e. Ovo či- ni hramove Džgantija starijim od Stounhendža, čak i od egipatskih piramida! Odisejeva pecina Priča se nastavlja i red je da svo- joj deci ispričate priču o slavnom Odiseju. Pecina Kalipso gleda na veličanstveni crveni pesak najfini- je plaže na ostrvu Gozo i navodno je pecina koju pominje Homer u Odi- seji. Legenda kaže da je to baš ona u kojoj je prelepa nimfa Kalipso sedam godina držala Odiseja kao zatočeni- ka ljubavi. Ok, ne morate da idete u detalje, ali ovo je svakako mesto za jedan fantastičan izlet.
Maltežani bi preporučili posetu njihovim ostrvima zimi, iako se verovatno necete kupati / Maltese natives would recommend the visit to their islands during the winter, although there probably won’t be any bathing in the sea
