Before doing yard work make sure you have good shoes or boots and always be sure of your footing. Take is slow at first to avoid over working. The leaves will be there tomorrow if you get tired. We hope these tips will make getting all the leaves up easier on your back and prevent a painful injury. If you do hurt yourself doing yard work this fall, we are here to help you get back to feeling better quickly. One Way to Avoid Back Pain While Raking Is To Use a Mower (With a Bag) A lot of homeowners choose to just mulch their leaves, but sometimes mulching just creates a thick layer of leaf debris — which then chokes out and kills your grass in the spring. Instead of mulching leaves, try to do a pass with a mower and bag them. This prevents the debris from collecting on top of your yard. Rake your yard just a little first to get the big chunks of leaves onto a tarp, (using good posture and using your arms) then a quick pass with the mower (always bagging) gets the rest of them).

“Before starting physical therapy my shoulder was in alot of pain and I had alot of achiness. Now I feel so much better and I have very little pain. The environment in the office is very comfortable and nice. The staff is excellent and I would recommend them to anyone that needs therapy!” -Elizabeth B. “Shoulder Pain and Achiness”

Fun Fall Facts

Fact #1: Americans typically refer to this time of year as “fall,” while the British use the word “autumn.” Both terms date back to the 16th century but before that it was called “harvest.” Fact #2: Fall was called “harvest” because of the “harvest moon” that occurs when the full moon is closest to the autumn equinox. Before man-made lighting, this moonlight was essential to a prosperous harvest. Fact #3: Weight gain around this time of year may not only be due to comforting fall foods like pumpkin pie and cider, researchers have found that lack of vitamin D reduces fat breakdown and triggers fat storage. Fact #4: According to The Weather Channel, pumpkins are the most craved food during the fall. Although, if you’ve left the house anytime recently, this may not come as a surprise to you.
