Od 3. do 5. novembra održaće se 26. izdanje Pančevačkog džez festivala, jedne od najprestižnijih džez manifestacija u Srbiji. Tokom tri festivalska dana u Dvorani Kul- turnog centra Pančeva i Foajeu KCP-a nastupiće deset internacionalnih sastava s muzičarima iz deset zemalja. Festival će 3. novembra u Dvorani Kulturnog cen- tra otvoriti srpski pijanista Ivan Aleksijević, a zatvoriti u Foajeu KCP-a kvartet gitari- ste Jovana Milovanovića, čiji je debi album jedno od najprijatnijih iznenađenja dže- zerske 2022. u Srbiji. The Japanese-Serbian Film Festival (JS- FF) celebrates its tenth birthday this au- tumn, with the jubilee edition scheduled for the period from 8 th to 12 th November and focused on the theme of Lasting. Dur- ing the festival’s five days, films of the latest Serbian and Japanese production will be shown at the Yugoslav Film Archives Cin- ematheque and the Cineplexx Cinema at Galerija Belgrade. British film and TV director Peter Webber, who was lauded for his debut film Girl with a Pearl Earring, which starred Scarlett Jo- hansson, Cillian Murphy and Colin Firth, and brought Webber nominations for al- most all of the biggest film awards, will be one of the JSFF’s special guests. We took the opportunity to conduct a short inter- view with him... What are your memories of that famous movie? - What I remember most from shooting for the film Girl with a Pearl Earring is actually just shooting with Scarlett, during which we completely reconstructed the famous Ver- meer painting. We made a replica and cre- ated a special space in the studio, with very demanding lighting that is also character- istic of the painting itself. With the profes- sionals with whom I worked, that was sim- ply an unforgettable experience! How are you connected to Japanese culture; how come you ended up on the jury of this festival? - My ties to Japan are primarily cultural – I’m an adoring fan of Japanese films, of Kuro- sawa and Ozu, but also of many contem- porary Japanese filmmakers. My person- al experience, however, was shooting the film Emperor, which is set in Japan at the end of World War II. I had the opportuni- ty to work with a large number of fantastic actors from Japan. We shot mostly in New Zealand, though we also shot some scenes in Tokyo. While I was preparing for that film, I spent a lot of time seeking out good loca- tions, but also researching facts and meet- ing people. I’ve been to Japan many times and toured several cities... That’s one of my favourite places in the world. You’ve still never been to Belgrade? - No, I’ve never been, though I’ve been to both Sarajevo and Zagreb. An Italian pro- ducer I worked with told me that Belgrade is a phenomenal city, with excellent food, so I’m really looking forward to coming and to this great festival. That will be a very ex- citing experience.
Japansko-srpski festival filma (JSFF) ove jeseni obeležava deset godina posto- janja, a jubilarno izdanje zakazano je za period od 8. do 12. novembra na temu „Trajanje“ („Lasting“). Tokom pet dana festivala filmovi najnovije srpske i japan- ske produkcije prikazivaće se u Jugoslo- venskoj kinoteci i bioskopu „Cineplexx Galerija Beograd“. Britanski filmski i TV reditelj Piter Veber, koji se proslavio debitantskim filmom „Devojka sa bisernom minđušom“ u kom igraju Skarlet Johanson, Kilijan Mar- fi i Kolin Firt, a koji mu je doneo nomina- cije za gotovo sve najveće filmske na- grade, biće jedan od specijalnih gostiju. Mi smo iskoristili priliku da sa njim kratko porazgovaramo. Kakva su vam sećanja na taj slavni film? – Sa snimanja filma „Devojka sa biser- nom minđušom“ zapravo se najviše se- ćam samog snimanja sa Skarlet, na kom smo potpuno rekonstruisali pozna- tu Vermerovu sliku. Napravili smo neku repliku i kreirali poseban prostor u studi- ju, sa vrlo zahtevnim svetlom koje je ka- rakteristično i na samoj slici. Sa profesi- onalcima sa kojima sam radio bilo je to jednostavno nezaboravno iskustvo!

Jedan italijanski producent sa kojim sam radio mi je re- kao da je Beograd fenomenalan grad, sa odličnom hranom, tako da se mnogo radujem dolasku i ovom sjajnom festiva- lu. Biće to jedno vrlo uzbudljivo iskustvo.

Kakve su vaše veze sa japan- skom kulturom, otkud vi u žiriju ovog festivala?
– Moje veze sa Japanom su pre svega kulturološke – obožavalac sam japan- skih filmova, Kurosave i Ozua, ali i mno- gih modernih japanskih filmskih stvara- laca. Moje lično iskustvo je pak snimanje filma „Car“ („Emperor“), čija je rad- nja smeštena u Japan na kraju Drugog svetskog rata. Imao sam priliku da ra- dim sa velikim brojem fantastičnih glu- maca iz Japana. Snimali smo najviše na Novom Zelandu, ali smo neke sce- ne snimili i u Tokiju. Dok sam spremao taj film, proveo sam mnogo vremena
The 26 th edition of the Pančevački Jazz Festival, one of the most prestigious jazz events in Serbia, will take place in the city of Pančevo from 3 rd to 5 th November. During the three days of the festival, the Hall and Foyer of the Pančevo Cultur- al Centre will host performances by ten international ensembles featuring musi- cians from ten countries. The festival will be opened on 3 rd November in the Hall of the Pančevo Cultural Centre by Serbian pianist Ivan Aleksijević, while it will come to a close in the Foyer with a performance of the Jovan Milovanović Quar- tet, the debut album of which was among the most pleasant surprises of Serbi- an jazz in 2022.
