International Economics
This textbook is an introduction to the major concepts and theories in international economics. It presents a wide range of topics, including international trade, foreign direct investment, international finance, and international development. The textbook is intended for students who have a basic understanding of micro- and macroeconomics and are interested in learning more about the global economy. Throughout the textbook, real-world examples are provided to help students understand the practical implications of the theories and concepts discussed. A variety of graphs and tables are also included to illustrate key points and make the material more accessible. ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Caroline Marinas-Acosta, Ph.D.
She is a seasoned international lecturer in Economics and Management, an academician, an author, a project consultant, and a business practitioner. In 2007, the Philippine Council of Deans and Educators in Business (PCDEB), in partnership with the Petron Foundation, recognized Dr. Acosta as the “Most Outstanding Teacher in Economics for Luzon.” She has a strong passion for teaching and wishes to reach out to more learners through book authorship.
Mia Torres-Dela Cruz, Ph.D.
She is an experienced international educator, statistician, author, and researcher in business information systems, data science, and computing. Dr. Torres- Dela Cruz is a visiting professor, speaker, and academic and research consultant at various universities in Malaysia, India, and Indonesia. She has published several academic papers and articles in reputable international journals and has mentored emerging academicians and researchers in information and communications technology, international economics, and business information systems.
Gladys Marquez Navarro, Ph.D.
She obtained her Ph.D. in Economics from Ateneo De Manila University and her baccalaureate and master’s degrees from Saint Louis University. She was a professor of economics at Saint Louis University for 25 years. Currently, she is the Dean of the School of Graduate and Professional Studies and the Dean of Deans of the PHINMA Education Graduate School cluster. She has worked on several commissioned research projects with the World Bank, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, the National Economic and Development Authority, the Ateneo Center for Research and Development, and the local government units of Baguio, Benguet, and Pangasinan.
Exequiel Mendoza Perez, Ph.D.
Exequiel Mendoza Perez is an Assistant Professor II at Isabela State University Main Campus, Echague, Isabela. He is a former instructor at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Sta. Mesa and San Juan campuses, teaching Economics for BS Accountancy, BS Marketing Management, BS Entrepreneurship, BSBA Finance, BS Cooperative, BS Civil Engineering, and BS Communications Engineering. At a young age, he became the University Planning Officer of the Isabela State University System. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Commerce, major in Economics, at the Royal and Pontifical University, University of Santo Tomas in 2004 and completed his academic requirements for a Master of Arts in Economics at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. He is a graduate of the Master in Business Administration program at Isabela State University and completed his academic requirements and passed the comprehensive examination leading to his Ph.D. in Commerce at Saint Mary’s University, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya. Dr. Perez received the Best University Employee award in the ISU System in 2014. He enjoys reading books, conducting research, and playing sports such as table tennis, lawn tennis, and volleyball. He also likes to travel within the Philippines.
