Forensic Photography

This textbook discusses the definitions of important terminologies, provides a historical overview, and covers the principles governing crime scene photography. It also tackles the camera and its functions, types and categories, the process of development, and the use of photography that can be applied in trials to prove allegations and shed light on the administration of justice. This work also presents different concepts and theories behind digital photography and their relevance to the changing demands of society and the sophistication of crimes committed in our society. Lastly, this textbook can be used by criminologists and those in the field of law enforcement to develop best practices in crime scene preservation.

ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Philip B. Magtaan He is a graduate of Doctor of Philosophy in Criminal Justice with Specialization in Criminology at the De La Salle University-Dasmarifias with high distinction. Currently, he is a member of Philippine National Police and an esteemed lecturer in some higher educational institutions in Region 4. He is also a researcher and has published research studies in international journal apart from being an author of textbooks for Criminal Justice Education. Some of the affiliations of the author include the Professional Criminologists Association of the Philippines 4 (PCAP) as business manager, and the Federation of Authors in Criminology and Criminal Justice, Inc. (FACCI). He is also a recipient of numerous awards and recognition in public safety and academe.

Tomas L. Cabrillas

e is the dean of the College of Public Safety (COPS) at the First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities (FAITH). He obtained his Doctor of Philosophy in Criminal Justice with Specialization in Criminology at the De La Salle University-Dasmarifias in 2017. He is a national reviewer for the Board Licensure Examination for Criminologists (BLEC) and has handled various corporate security management and consulting works outside the academe. He is currently the regional governor of PCAP 4 Chapter, a member of Regional Quality Assessment Team, Commission on Higher Education (CHED-IVA) for Criminal Justice Education since 2018, and a Continuing Professional Education (CPD) monitor and evaluator for professional criminologist under Professional Regulation Commission (PRC). He was awarded as the Outstanding Certified Security Professional of the Philippines for the Year 2017 by PSIS International and an Outstanding Criminologist of the Philippines for the Year 2014 by Professional Criminologists Association of the Philippines.

Ramil V. Remotin

He is a graduate of Master of Science in Criminal Justice and Doctor of Philosophy in Criminal Justice with Specialization in Criminology at the De La Salle University-Dasmarifias. He is also a member of Philippine National Police assigned investigation and administrative sections. Aside from being an author of textbooks for Criminology and Criminal Justice courses, he is also a researcher who published research studies in international journal. The author is also an active member of Professional Criminologists Association of the Philippines 4. As a police officer and an academician, the author is a recipient of numerous awards and recognition for his exemplary performance.
