A Course Module for Science in Early Childhood Education is a science module that focuses on methods to assist preservice teachers in effectively teaching science to young children. This module discusses science concepts and science literacy, presents guide questions for critical reflection, and offers project-based and activity-based assessments to help preservice teachers develop the necessary skills for their careers. Furthermore, it informs preservice teachers on conducting engaging lessons and science activities for young learners.
ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Joel Bernal Faustino
He graduated with a Master of Education in Curriculum Development from Ehime University in 2012 and a Master of Arts in Education with a major in Curriculum Studies from the University of the Philippines-Diliman in 2010. He earned his Bachelor of Elementary Education, major in Preschool Education, from Bulacan State University in 2002. In the same year, he obtained his professional teacher license while working as a preschool teacher and was soon promoted to school principal. He is a permanent faculty member of the College of Education at Bulacan State University, teaching professional education and preschool major subjects. She is a full-time professor in the Biological Sciences Department at Centro Escolar University-Manila. She holds a Master of Science in Biology from De La Salle University-Manila and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of the East-Manila. She was granted a scholarship by the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) while pursuing her Master in Biology. She co-authored General Education Curriculum (GEC) textbooks, Understanding the Self and Science, Technology, and Society. Eden Joy Pastor Alata She graduated from the University of the Philippines-Los Baños with a BA in Philosophy, magna cum laude. She has received the University President’s Medal, the College of Arts and Sciences Medal of Merit for academic excellence, and the Department of Humanities Medal for academic excellence. She is a member of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. She is also currently a researcher and writer on a variety of Science, Technology, and Society topics.
