The Contemporary World

This book is structured to align with the General Education Curriculum of the Commission on Higher Education, ensuring that it meets the educational needs of students preparing to engage with an increasingly interconnected world. Each chapter delves into critical dimensions of globalization, offering a scholarly exploration of key concepts, historical developments, and current trends. Each chapter is designed to not only convey knowledge but also to stimulate critical thinking and discussion. The inclusion of process questions, debate prompts, case analyses, reflection questions, application exercises, comparative queries, ethical dilemmas, and group activities aims to enhance the learning experience by providing opportunities for practical application and deeper understanding. In writing this textbook, my goal has been to provide a resource that is both informative and engaging, equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate and contribute to the contemporary world. I hope that this book will inspire students to critically examine the complexities of globalization and become informed, active participants in the global community.
