A Course Module for Mathematics in the Modern World
This module has varied exercises for the readers to supplement what they have learned. It includes real-life problems they can explore on their own or with the aid of a mentor or a facilitator. Its objectives are manifold, central among them being the ability to communicate simplified discussions of topics that are otherwise misunderstood. This module also intends to enhance the critical thinking and problem-solving skills of the readers. The need for students to recognize the importance of mathematics is imperative, as it will not only develop their 21st century skills but will also holistically transform them.
ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Esmeralda A. Manlulu, MAEd
Esmeralda M. Lino is a licensed teacher. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Education major in Mathematics from Philippine Normal University- Manila and Master of Arts in Education major in Mathematics from National Teachers College. She teaches various mathematics subjects from junior high school to tertiary level.
Liza Marie M. Hipolito, MS in Mathematics
Liza Marie M. Hipolito is a licensed teacher. She graduated with Bachelor of Science in Math with Applications in Actuarial Science/Statistics and pursued her Master of Science in Math, both from the De La Salle University-Manila. She has taught various college subjects in mathematics.
ABOUT THE COORDINATOR
He finished his Master of Arts in Education and Doctor of Philosophy in Education major in Curriculum Studies at the University of the Philippines-Diliman. He also completed his Master of Education in Curriculum Development and did a postdoctoral study on Gifted Education in Science at Ehime University in Japan. As a scholar, he has done numerous research works and published articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals. He served as a professor of Curriculum Studies at the University of the Philippines-Diliman for nine years. He became a member of CHED’s Technical Committee for Educational Leadership and Foundations for four years. He received various scholarship grants, such as the Mombukagakusho Research Scholarship, JASSO Research Fellowship Grant, and JASSO Student Support Scholarship. He finished his Ph.D. with the ‘Academic Excellence Award’ for getting the highest general weighted average among all the doctoral graduates. He also received the prestigious Pi Gamma Mu Award for Academic Excellence in Social Sciences. He was also a member of the Phi Kappa Phi International Honor Society. Currently, he is a professor of Curriculum Development and Evaluation and Human Development Studies at the University of the Philippines-Los Baños. Greg Tabios Pawilen, Ph.D.
