Gadsden State Community College recently hosted a ribbon cutting and open house for its Surgical Technology program on the Ayers Campus. The event highlighted the college’s investment in hands-on health sciences training and provided attendees an opportunity to tour the program’s updated lab space, meet faculty and learn more about career pathways in surgical technology. The Surgical Technology program prepares students for critical roles in the operating room, where they assist surgeons, nurses and other medical professionals during surgical procedures. Students receive classroom instruction along with practical, skills-based training designed to meet workforce demands in the region. The event was open to the public, and guests explored the lab, interacted with instructors and students, and learned more about enrollment and program requirements. The ribbon cutting was part of a full evening of activities on the Ayers Campus. A State of the College address followed in the Cheaha Lecture Hall, where President Alan Smith shared updates on enrollment growth, program expansion and recent accomplishments. He also highlighted Gadsden State's continued momentum and impact across the region. Submitted Photo
