Direct is an ode to Lee Krasner, the female artist who became a poineer in Abstract Expressionism . As the wife of Jackson Pollock, her work was overshadowed until later in life when she truly discovered her form. As a woman and an artist, she captures the spirit of originality. Direct is similarly expressive and non- conformist. There are no conventional colours, each appears to have passed through a digital chromer. Its placement leads the eye and doesn’t conform to certain spaces; breaking free fromarchitectural constraints. Above all, it is fun. Playful colour combinations explore boundaries and spatial perception through focal points and colour blocking to challenge our pre-conceptions how a space should be defined.
Some of the trends images are to test boundaries and to grab the attention of the consumer press. If we showed amagnolia image people would skim over it. Here, the “Movement” image is bold and plays on boundaries and perception of a space. Movement is a celebration of culture and identity. It is a reflection of the popularity of travelling to far flung places, in order to share exotic cultural backdrops on social media. It is informal – trainers and sportswear are seen on the catwalks and are becomingmore andmore acceptable in the workplace. It is fast paced, youthful and energetic, shown through colouredmetal, raw concrete and neon light. Movement is represented in street music and graphic art. The colours combine neutrals and pops of bright vibrant colour. Grey and beige form the base colours in this palette, brighter vibrant colours energise and lift the palette. The shapes painted play around with boundaries and showwe are not limited to 2D shapes when painting a room– a 3D space.

DIRECT PALETTE gives a new perspective on howwe look and use tone and hue. Herre are colours when combined together are energetic, uplifting and heartfelt. Differing weights of colour create dynamismand tension, whether connecting one room to another or adding a blcok of contrast accross natural architectural boundaries. This is an exciting way of working within a space to add interest and definition; this approach to colour obeys no rules - it is all about expression and having fun.
