05.A EQUALITYACT
All people regardless of disability should be able to gain access to buildings and within buildings use their facilities, both as visitors and as people who live or work in them.
The law requires all authorities and organisations in Great Britain (that provide goods or services to the public), tomake reasonable adjustments to ensure physical features do not put a disabled person at a substantial disadvantage in relation to those who are not disabled.
The Act itself does not provide specific guidance for buildings, facilities or environments.
However, in depth guidance can be found in the government approved document; Access to and Use of Buildings Other than Dwellings part M Volume 2 (2015 Edition). Compliance with Building Regulations is essential and failing to do somay result in the owner being served with an enforcement notice.
