The King's Awards for Enterprise Magazine 2026

Founded in 2009 and headquartered in Chesterfield, Phoenix Sealing is a UK Phoenix Sealing

manufacturer of high performance industrial seals and gaskets, currently employing 28 people. The company has been recognised with the King’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation in recognition of its CORRIX® Corrosion Control Gasket range, a technically innovative solution to the problem of galvanic and crevice corrosion in flanged pipework, launched in 2025. Simon Winfield, Managing Director of Phoenix Technology Group, says: “Receiving the King’s Award for Enterprise: Innovation is a profound recognition of what our team has achieved, and something everyone at Phoenix Sealing can be enormously proud of. “Flange face corrosion is one of the most persistent and costly challenges facing the oil, gas and process industries. It develops gradually, often unnoticed, at the gasket-flange interface, and if left unaddressed it leads to leaks, unplanned shutdowns and expensive repairs. We identified a fundamental gap in the market. Traditional graphite-filled gaskets were actively contributing to the problem, accelerating galvanic and crevice corrosion in the very environments where sealing integrity matters most. CORRIX® is our answer to this problem.

Phoenix Group launching the Corrix Range at Chem UK in May 2025 Corrix Halo for corrosion mitigation

“CORRIX® is a precision-engineered, complete corrosion control system, designed not simply to seal around the problem, but to prevent, mitigate and isolate flange corrosion at its source. It was developed in close collaboration with our partners at ALBA Gaskets, rigorously tested in offshore oil and gas operations, and it is manufactured right here in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. We are genuinely proud that CORRIX® is a UK solution to a global industry challenge. “The results so far are tangible. Our customers are seeing reduced leaks, less unplanned downtime, lower maintenance costs and safer, more efficient operations. To have our work recognised with the UK’s most prestigious business accolade is a huge achievement for Phoenix Sealing. This award belongs to every

member of our team, every partner who contributed to its development, and every customer who has trusted us with their most critical assets. “Corrix® highlights the importance of UK Manufacturing to help provide technically engineered solutions for the global market. Export opportunities now beckon and play an important part in the continued growth of Phoenix Sealing.” PHOENIX SEALING The Phoenix Building, Devonshire Industrial Hamlet, Station Road, Chesterfield, S43 1JU www.phoenixsealing.co.uk phoenix-sealing phoenixsealing @phoenixsealing @phoenixsealing730 @phoenixsealing

Quantum Science

Quantum Science is the leading supplier of infrared quantum dot (QD) technology for the global shortwave infrared (SWIR) imaging sector. Its flagship product, INFIQ®, provides a scalable platform for SWIR technology and has been recognised with a King’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation. Based at Daresbury, Quantum Science develops semiconductor technologies that help cameras and sensors see beyond the visible spectrum, identifying everything from moisture to material composition and light invisible to the human eye. This opens applications across industrial inspection, AI-enabled machine vision, automotive sensing, medical diagnostics and security, where information beyond visible light provides richer data for automated analysis, quality control, safer operation and more informed decision-making. The core challenge facing the infrared imaging sector is moving from improving device performance towards scalable adoption. The high cost and complexity of conventional infrared detector technologies makes them difficult to integrate into high-volume electronics manufacturing. INFIQ® addresses this bottleneck. Through proprietary quantum dot ink chemistry, device- stack expertise and scalable solution-processing

approaches, the platform makes high- performance infrared sensing compatible for CMOS manufacturing routes. This presents a practical route for turning quantum dot science into an enabling industrial technology platform. Quantum Science’s

work spans quantum dot synthesis, ink formulation, thin-film engineering, device-stack optimisation, process development and customer-specific R&D support. Our focus is on enhancing repeatability, reliability, manufacturability, integration readiness and supply-chain confidence, which are integral to moving technologies from laboratory demonstration to commercial deployment. It works with partners across the global imaging and semiconductor ecosystem, providing the critical quantum dot materials, process insight and targeted development support that helps downstream sensor, camera and system companies bring new infrared imaging products to market. Receiving the King’s Award is a milestone for Quantum Science and a strong endorsement of UK

deep-tech innovation. It strengthens its platform to support customers, partners and investors as demand grows for compact, scalable and cost- effective infrared sensing. The team’s ambition is clear: to help define the enabling technology platform for the next generation of infrared imaging, and to turn world- class British materials science into real products, real supply chains and real industrial impact.
