Border Collie Corner Road Trip Tips Most Owners Miss!

Ann Eike’s Message to Our Amazing Clients Thank You So Much for Your Support

Hiya friends! The excitement for outdoor activities and adventures makes the summer a very common time for road trips with pets. As a pet myself, here’s my advice to help make sure your trip is successful and comfortable for us as possible!

Hi everyone! I’m Dr. Ann Eike, a veterinarian at Petersen Pet Hospital. As some of you know, I had a very debilitating car accident on Oct. 13, 2020, and I’ve been away from the practice for a few months since. The crash was definitely the worst day of my life, and I was worried about the clients and patients I’d be unable to see. But when I received such deep understanding and support from you all, it made that terrible day a little easier to bear. One client even sent me flowers as soon as I got out of my initial surgery, which blew my mind. Thank you SO much for all your caring, concern, and support! I ended up staying in the hospital for a month, and it will take me one year to fully recover. However, I’ve been working very hard to walk again, and I’ve been able to do so with assistance, ahead of schedule! Since my recovery journey is going so well, I’ve decided to return to work for a few days a week. I don’t want anyone to worry, because working has always been a big help for me, mentally and physically. I do have a few limitations in the patients I can treat. Currently, I’m only taking patients under 50 pounds. Since I’m currently walking with an assistance device (walker), larger patients may be a bit of a challenge for me! Restrictions will

naturally change as I recover, so please call our office if you have any concerns about making a future appointment. Seeing you and your pets’ faces will be some amazing, sweet therapy for me. I’ve gotten a lot of rest at the farm with my husband (he takes me to see our farm’s calves when we get a chance!). Now, I absolutely can’t wait to jump back into work. The outpouring of your support has left me speechless since the accident, and your cards, emails, flowers, and encouragement have meant so much to me.

While you enjoy your favorite grilled meals this Memorial Day Weekend, don’t forget about the dogs!

Thank you again, and I hope to see you in the office soon!
