Chocolate and Wine Tasting with Franciscan Village Ages 55 + We will be tasting different chocolates and pairing them with the correct wine. Timothy Campbell is an Adjunct Faculty member at the College of DuPage where he teaches Introduction to Wine and Beverage Management, as well as art, writing, and photography classes. He is a Certified Sherry Wine Specialist, and he holds the Level 3 Award in Wines from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust. As an experienced lecturer, he will enlighten and delight the group and show that exploring the world of wine is fun, enriching, and something anyone can do. Registration is required. (SD) Min/Max: 6/28 R/NR: Free/$5 Location: Meet in CORE Lobby Program # Day Date Time 140616-A1 Th 2/6 1:30-3:30 pm Beyond Beautiful - DuPage Symphony Orchestra Ages 55 + Acclaimed violist and well-known string teacher in the western suburbs, Rose Armbrust Griffin, is the featured soloist in the DSO’s February concert, performing the rarely-heard but gloriously tuneful Viola Concerto by Cecil Forsyth. The concert is framed by two compelling masterworks: Johannes Brahms’ Tragic Overture, imbued with powerful melancholy, and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6 in B minor, commonly known as Pathétique but more aptly designated as the “Passionate.” This exquisitely poignant symphony was Tchaikovsky’s final work in the genre, premiered just nine days before his death. Christkindlmarket Festival Aurora & Holiday Lights Ages 55 + The Christkindlmarket unites cherished German European tradition with international flair and local charm. Inspired by the 16th century Christkindlmarket in Nuremberg, Germany, the Christkindlmarket is well-known for its vendors high quality gifts, walk-in cabins, German food and holiday cheer. Cost includes transportation to the market - shopping and food are on your own. We will be making a stop on the way back at the Aurora Festival of Lights drive-thru light display! Registration deadline: December 9, 2024. On a snowy Christmas Eve brimming with memorable characters, ghostly apparitions and splendid holiday music, miserly Ebenezer Scrooge visits the past, present and future to discover the true meaning of Christmas. Metropolis Performing Arts Centre’s updated, record-breaking production returns with enough magic, joy and Christmas spirit to delight audiences of all ages. Before the show, we will be eating lunch right downtown Arlington Heights. The trip includes transportation and the show ticket. Lunch is on your own. Registration deadline is November 19 th .
