Welcome Ivy Hue Dance Company! Ivy Hue Dance Company (IHDC) was founded by Antoinette Briscoe in 2020. IHDC is a recreational dance program that offers a professional level dance experience for youth ages 4-16. We believe that access to the arts enriches communities and is critical to economic development, social, and emotional growth. We believe that dance not only develops the body but the mind as well. Our classes provide discipline, build independence, self esteem, and self motivation. Our experienced and dedicated instructors are committed to providing a positive learning environment for all students. Creative Movement Age 3 This introductory class specifically designed for ages 3 year olds, uses techniques in Ballet and Jazz, while working on developing physical skills, channeling energy, stimulating imagination, creativity, and being introduced to dance. Using creative movement, students can simultaneously develop motor skills, rhythmic awareness, coordination, and balance in a safe environment. This class will prepare your child for Ballet I at age 4. (SD) Class Will Not Meet On: 4/2 *This class will be participating in the recital. Ballet Ages 7-10 In this program, students will learn a range of classical and contemporary music compositions. The program will acquaint students with the French language and introduce them to classical ballet. Ballet Barre exercises will be used. Students will develop body coordination while learning to dance with a group. Various creative movement exercises will be used to encourage the student’s ability to express their individuality within the discipline of dance. (SD) Class Will Not Meet On: 4/1, 4/3 Min/Max: 5/12 R/NR: $130/$195 Program # Day Dates Time 120515-A1 Tu 1/14-5/13 5:15-6:00 pm Pre-Tap Ages 4-6 Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. The class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds, and having fun. As students progress through each level, the curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate. DANCE PROGRAM INFORMATION Dance Watching: Parents are welcome to observe classes March 24-March 28. Shoes: Dance shoes are required for all dance classes, with the exception of hip-hop.
