Estate Plans Aren’t One-and-Done Is Yours Still Protecting You?

Estate Planning is one of those topics people tend to avoid talking about. Some don’t like to think about what happens after they pass away, while others don’t believe they have enough assets or wealth to make it worthwhile. Unless you’ve been the executor of a loved one’s estate or gone through the Probate process, you may not fully understand the importance of Estate Planning. That’s likely why only 33% of American adults have created Estate Planning documents to establish their end-of-life desires. In October, we have National Estate Planning Awareness Week, so there’s no better time to review and update your current plan. You can also encourage loved ones to establish a plan to protect their future and their family. Most of you reading this have already established your Estate Plan, but it’s essential to remember that Estate Planning is not a one- and-done type of responsibility. Your documents are ever-evolving to reflect your life and your wishes accurately. You should review your plan every three years to ensure it still makes sense for you and your situation. If you experience any significant life changes, you should update your Estate Plan immediately. Let’s explore some of the situations that require updates. FAMILY STRUCTURE: Did you recently get married or go through a divorce? You may want to add your new spouse or remove your former spouse from your plans. If your family grew through the birth or adoption of a child or grandchild, you may want to update your plan to include them. If a Beneficiary, Executor, or Trustee passed away, you’ll need to update your plan to name their replacement. FINANCIAL SITUATION: Did you recently come into wealth, either through an inheritance, winning the lottery, or selling your business? Your plan needs an update! If you lost a significant sum of money, you should also update your plan to reflect your financial situation. Buying or selling properties, investments, and businesses requires a review and possible updates, and this becomes even more important if you move to a new state or country. You must ensure your plan is valid and legal in your new location!

HEALTH CHANGES: Were you recently diagnosed with a serious illness or disability? If so, consider reviewing your Health Care Directives, Powers of Attorney, and Guardianship designations to ensure they still reflect your wishes. You may also need to update your long-term care plans to account for potential impending costs. Now, I want you to pass this newsletter to someone you love and care about who doesn’t have a plan in place because what I’m going to say is very important. Everyone can benefit from having an Estate Plan, regardless of their specific situation. It’s not just about leaving assets and money to your descendants; Estate Planning allows you to name a guardian for minor children, determine your end-of-life plans, and give your family time to grieve because a solid Estate Plan will not need to go through the Probate process. Many benefits come with establishing an Estate

Plan, the biggest being peace of mind about the future. If you have any questions or want to create, review, or update your plan, please call us today!

Many Americans like to imagine they’ll age comfortably in their own home, surrounded by their favorite possessions and loved ones. Unfortunately, life is rarely so predictable. Things can happen that completely upend our plans. We may have to consider going into a nursing home or a long-term care facility, but without the proper planning, this could be an unrealistic solution for many. Since October is Long-Term Care Planning Month, you have a perfect opportunity to explore your options and create a plan that works for you and your situation. The biggest reason people have to plan for long-term care is the cost. You may think these facilities can’t cost more than your mortgage or rent, but you’d be surprised. The American Council on Aging reports that, on average, Floridians can expect to pay $117,895 per year for a private room and $104,025 for a shared room. Most seniors do not bring in $8,000–10,000 a month, so how can they afford these programs without emptying their savings and selling off their assets? Our team has helped countless individuals create a long-term care plan that works for them and their specific needs. We don’t want anyone to feel like they have to sell off everything they own to qualify for Medicaid and get the care they need. When you come in for a consultation, we’ll explore your needs and wants to determine how to get you where you need to be. We’ll make use of many documents to address all your needs. This includes Advance Directives, Powers of Attorney, Medicaid Planning Documents, Irrevocable Trusts, Long-Term Care insurance Policies, Caregiver Agreements, and vital Estate Planning documents. By creating a plan for your long-term care needs, you can effectively avoid financial burden and hard decisions on your family in the future, protect your assets, receive the care you want, protect your retirement funds, and gain peace of mind. The earlier you start planning and preparing, the better off you will be! A Little Planning Goes a Long Way Don’t Let Long-Term Care Drain Everything You’ve Built

Start Your Day the Danish Way Create Hygge in Every Comforting Morning Step

There’s a quiet magic in the early morning. It’s a time made for gentleness, nourishing both body and spirit. That’s the beauty of hygge , a Danish philosophy rooted in comfort, mindfulness, and savoring life’s small pleasures. Pronounced “ hoo-gah ,” this gentle lifestyle encourages you to slow down and enjoy the present moment. And what better time to begin than first thing in the morning? Begin right where you wake, still nestled beneath the covers. Before your feet ever touch the floor, take a moment to stretch — not the kind that feels like a chore but one that softly awakens your muscles and soothes your joints. This small act stirs your blood and eases your body into the day with kindness. Let your shower become a sanctuary. Choose a soap that smells like the season — apple, cinnamon, or something crisp and woodsy. Let the warm water remind you that you’re not in a rush, that this moment is yours. As the coffee brews or tea steeps, light a candle . Watch it flicker and think of someone who has touched your life. Offer a quiet thank-you and wish them well. This small blessing is a gift to them and you. Slip on your walking shoes and greet the world outside . Even a short stroll can awaken a sense of calm. Listen to the autumn leaves rustle, feel the sun on your cheeks. Let nature’s rhythm soften your own. These hygge-inspired rituals help you reclaim mornings with grace, presence, and joy. You’ve earned mornings like these. Let them carry you forward.

Books provide us with an infinite source of information and entertainment. Some people love reading fiction novels that take them to faraway places full of mystery and excitement, while others prefer to stick to stories or topics more grounded in reality. Biographies about famous figures, self-help books, and other informative reads can supplement knowledge and allow readers to be the best version of themselves. Since October is National Book Month, we’d love to spotlight Barry’s book, “Caught in the Middle,” an informative read that will help you navigate one of the most challenging situations in life. As we progress through life, we may reach a point where we are raising families of our own while trying to help our aging parents with everything they need. It can become overwhelming, especially if they’re at a point where they need to consider a long-term care Raising Kids and Caring for Parents? ‘Caught in the Middle’ Can Help!

Smart Moves for Staying Healthy at Your Desk

Desk Job? Don’t Settle Healthy Habits to Fight Deskbound Blues

DESIGN YOUR SPACE Creating a pleasing, well-organized

Staying healthy and fit can be a challenge when your job requires you to sit at a desk most of the time. A growing share of Americans spend their workdays at a computer, and as many as 70% of them eventually develop neck, back, or shoulder pain or problems with obesity. Research shows that embracing healthy habits can help you avoid those harmful effects. Here are a few to try. MASTER ERGONOMICS Following good ergonomic practices can prevent neck and shoulder pain. Choose a chair that provides lumbar support. Adjust the height of your chair and monitor until you can sit in a relaxed, erect posture with your feet flat on the floor and the top of your monitor slightly below eye level. Notice

when your gaze drifts downward and your shoulders become rounded, and correct your posture by lifting the top of your head toward the ceiling. Adjust your keyboard so your wrists are level and relaxed when typing to allay wrist and arm strain. GET UP AND STRETCH Break away from your desk and walk around for a few minutes every hour, if possible. Do gentle stretches to relax your back and neck. Loosen your upper back muscles by bending your chin toward your chest and rolling it gently from side to side. Relax your neck by holding your hands behind your head with fingers intertwined and pushing back gently against your fingers. Stretch one arm over your head, lean to the opposite side, then switch arms and repeat.

workspace can help motivate you to stick to healthy habits. Use colors and materials that feel inviting and comfortable. Choose desk items and organizing tools that help you keep your work surface tidy and clear. Add plants, decorative objects, or wall art that inspires or uplifts you, and display objects that spark pleasant thoughts, such as family photos. Use natural light whenever possible, or a full-spectrum light that is close to daylight. Taken together, these subtle changes can help you maintain your health and well- being, without missing a beat at work!
