Working at Aberystwyth University Research with impact
Research and innovation are the lifeblood of Aberystwyth University. They deepen our knowledge and understanding, inform our learning and teaching and deliver real benefits to everyday lives in Wales and the wider world. For Aberystwyth University, research matters. It informs our teaching and enhances the learning experience. Students are taught by staff who shape our understanding of the world in which we live and who are pushing back the frontiers of what we know.
Our research also benefits society. It has an impact upon the economy, on improving the environement, on public policy and upon cultural life in Wales and beyond. It is outward looking, engaging with communities. And through commercial partnerships, it helps to develop new products and techniques. From developing Miscanthus bioenergy crops, to the study of medieval history and the exploration of Mars, Aberystwyth University possesses a distinguished record of undertaking cutting-edge research that has been recognised world-leading or internationally excellent. Research is an integral part of the University’s mission and work. It is supported by a Research Strategy, the purpose of which is to ensure that the University can continue to produce a significant volume of high quality work and respond to the rapidly changing environment in the UK in relation to research and its funding.
