Main Duties include:

11. Working with colleagues, lead the development of a coherent team and structure, encouraging cross functional and cross directorate working. 12. Providing leadership at all levels of the University, on all aspects of Estate and Building Improvement Programmes to support Faculties and Directorates in meeting the needs of students/staff/service users. 13. Ensuring that the Project Management and Estate Management teams deliver exceptional customer services to University stakeholders. 14. Deputising for the Director of Estates, Facilities & Residences as required and therefore taking responsibility for reporting to the Executive, leading the wider Estates, Facilities Residences Directorate, developing and maintaining relationships with external partners and representing the University as the Lead Officer for Estates as required. 15. Representing the University in public fora, both on and off-campus, as necessary. 16. As a member of the Directorate Leadership Team, to develop a ‘best in sector’ Directorate of Estates, Facilities & Residences function: developing staff to fulfil their potential, increasing staff satisfaction and retention, and nurturing a positive and enabling attitude towards the delivery of ambitious targets in an increasingly cost constrained environment. 17. To develop and instil an ethos of Customer Excellence, continual improvement and efficiency within all Estates activities. 18. To continually review resources and skills mix against the organisational needs and lead organisation change.

1. Management and motivation of a team Project Management and Estate Management functions, within in-house professionals spanning project management, space and property management disciplines. 2. Management of estates strategy development and estate masterplanning. Contributing to wider estate strategy and sub-strategies as the Deputy Director. 3. Management of the estates planning process to ensure that the estate is fit for purpose to deliver excellence in research and teaching. 4. Management of strategic estate issues including option appraisal and feasibility analysis of development schemes and collaboration with development partners. 5. Management of the capital programme consisting of refurbishment and new build construction projects generally from £250k to in excess of £30m in value. 6. Management of in-house project management functions and processes to deliver best in sector at best value. 7. Management of a minor works and estate improvement programmes consisting of refurbishment, maintenance and alteration projects with individual projects ranging from £25k to £250k in value. 8. Overseeing the space and property management function to ensure efficient and appropriate use and development of space. 9. Through the management of the Compliance Manager, ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory and institutional requirements and recommended best practice. 10. Drive a safety culture within the team and with all suppliers to ensure the delivery of a safe, healthy and secure environment for students, staff and visitors.
