Introduction From The Vice-Chancellor
As the first University College in Wales, we have a long-standing reputation for delivering academic excellence, an exceptional student experience and world-leading research. We are The Times/Sunday Times UK University of the Year 2019 for Teaching Quality for an unprecedented second consecutive year, Welsh University of the Year, The Times/Sunday Times Good University Guide 2020, and in June 2018 we were awarded Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework.
Every academic department, school and professional services department has a key role to play in the future development and continued success of our institution. We are looking to strengthen its contribution to student recruitment overall. In addition, growing research income is a further objective, alongside developing the entrepreneurial skills of our researchers and our links with industry. If you have the skills and expertise we require, coupled with the authority and the leadership qualities to work with colleagues across our University, I would be delighted to hear from you. Thank you again for your interest.
As you will see from this publication, the core values of tradition, creativity and Welsh identity are integral to Aberystwyth. We have a proud history of providing education and research through the medium of Welsh and are keen to further strengthen this offer across our disciplines, alongside strengthening our English medium provision. Aberystwyth University has been through a significant period of change and we stand now on the brink of a bold new chapter. As we approach our 150th anniversary, we are looking for talented individuals who can inspire others to work creatively and collaboratively together – towards a long-term sustainable institution that maintains our special place in the sector. Our new Strategic Plan builds on the University’s historic strengths and sets out our aims, ambitions and aspirations.
