The Bulletin: March 2020

NEW IN THE GOLF SHOP March means spring is around the corner and new merchandise is arriving in the Golf Shop. This month we are receiving arrivals from Peter Millar, Polo Ralph Lauren, Johnnie-O, KJUS, GFORE, Donald Ross, Holderness & Bourne plus Melly M and IBKUL for women. In addition, we are stocked up on the latest in footwear from GFORE, Foot Joy, Adidas and Ecco, as well as all the latest golf clubs from Titleist, TaylorMade, Callaway and Ping. Be sure to stop by and see all the latest offerings. Also happening in the Golf Shop this month is our annual ‘Buy three dozen golf balls, get one dozen free offer’ from Titleist, Callaway and TaylorMade. Be sure to look for more information from the Golf Shop on this extremely popular annual promotion. ONLINE TOURNAMENT DIRECTORY ACTIVE One of the improvements offered last season that is online again for 2020 is our online tournament directory. This directory gives every tournament, including men’s, women’s, mixed and juniors, a dedicated webpage of its own. On this event webpage members have the ability to see tournament information prior to the event including format and schedule, as well as the ability to sign-up directly online for all of our events. Following the event, tournament results, player analytics, and pictures of the event are posted on the event webpage. This directory is accessible from the Wilmington Country Club website’s golf page, or via the club’s We have one month until we go live with the new World Handicap System at Wilmington. In case you missed last month’s Q&A, HERE is a link to some common questions about the new system. Here is a link to a written transcript of the Member Q&A. Also, a few things to keep in mind: 1. Scores must be posted the same day as played. Handicaps update daily and will vary based on tee played. Scores may be posted on the USGA GHIN app, or one of the terminals in the Clubhouse. Note that terminals in the Clubhouse will ask for hole-by-hole scores, automatically accounting for maximum hole score. 2. Maximum score for handicap posting purposes on any hole is net double bogey (Par + 2 + any Handicap Strokes). 3. You only need three 18-Hole scores to establish a Handicap. If you do not have a Handicap any member of the Professional Staff in the Golf Shop would be happy to establish one for you! It is easy and takes just one minute. Foretees app under the Golf Event Registration link. SCORE POSTING BEGINS APRIL 1
