Payroll software that is recognised by HMRC Published: 31 August 2023 Emailed: 6 September 2023
As a reminder, HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) publishes a list of recognised payroll software that can be used to report PAYE information online.
The list has currently been updated with one addition. The list by HMRC includes free and paid-for software and can be found here. The list is regularly updated and always a good place to start when considering a change of payroll software.

Reminder: first time self-assessment filers Published: 4 September 2023 Emailed: 6 September 2023
Individuals who need to submit a tax return for the first time, or who no longer need to because their circumstances have changed, need to tell HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) by the 5 October 2023.
The free online tool on GOV.UK can be used to check if you need to complete a tax return for the tax year 6 April 2022 to 5 April 2023.
Guidance on whether you need to complete a self-assessment tax return this year, including information about how to register for self-assessment and what you’ll need to do if you stop being self-employed is also available on GOV.UK.

Update: HMRC standard for agents Published: 4 September 2023 Emailed: 6 September 2023
HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has updated guidance ‘ HMRC standard for agents ’. With the guidance, you can find out what HMRC expect from you if you represent or give advice to taxpayers.
Section '2.3.3 Interaction with clients' has been updated with information about how HMRC treat assignments of income tax repayments by a taxpayer to their agent.
