CIPP Payroll: need to know - 2023-24

The Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals

News On Line

As previously reported, the CIPP received feedback from our members stating that the backdating of National Insurance Contributions would add a significant burden on payroll departments and was therefore “not an option”. It was consequently no surprise that the results showed that out of almost 700 responses, less than two percent of respondents didn’t manage to implement the changes in time. The CIPP will of course communicate the results with HMRC, and despite an outstanding percentage of respondents having updated software in time for the changes, we will urge HMRC to allow adequate time for payroll professionals and software providers to implement future changes.

Thank you to all that responded to the Quick Poll. As always, we value your opinion, and your input helps us to support you better in the future.

Published: 20 February 2024 Emailed: 21 February 2024

Head to our news pages now to take part in our latest quick poll.

This one is slightly more complex, but we would love to know if the latest announcements on the mandating of payrolling benefits has made your business reassess your approach to benefit reporting for the 2024/25 tax year.

With the changes not scheduled to commence until 2026, it may be that some businesses are wanting to get ahead of the curve and iron out any process changes ahead of the full mandating plans. Tell us what you think and also let us know with the “have your say” box if you have any further comments to add.

Thank you in advance, your input is always valued.
