JUNE 2020 HIGHLIGHTS

Maintenance – Summer color has been planted in entryway behind 10 green at LP and ES all other empty beds will be kept clean and free of weeds.

Notes:

June begins the extreme hot weather season in the Coachella Valley. Adjust irrigation to compensate for extreme weather. Landscape workers will need to take precautions associated with working in hot temperatures. With the heat, rye grass will be burning out. Bermuda will require adequate water to transition satisfactorily. Fertilize weak areas if necessary. Watch for broadleaf weeds and apply post emergent herbicides as necessary. Nut grass should be treated as it appears. Shrubs will be growing rapidly and will need consistent pruning. Heat sensitive shrubs should receive limited pruning to prevent sunburn damage. Date palms should have been pruned already. Washingtonia Palms should be pruned this month as flowers open in debris sensitive areas. Washingtonia Palms are pruned in June and July as time allows. Monitor annual flowers for pests and disease and treat as necessary.
