Some Golden rules for producing a print job: In order for you not to lose money on a job, please follow these guidelines: 1. In the case of single personalized items, the customer must write down the way they want the item printed, and any wording they want on the item must be written in their own handwriting in block letters on a piece of paper that they must sign. They can also email it and be sure to keep that email. 2. Make sure to get at least 60% of the money for the job before doing the job. 3. If you are going to produce multiples of the same item – say 20 mugs of the same logo etc. then you must: i)
Charge a “setup” fee – companies expect this as they get charged a setup fee on all commercial print jobs. The setup fee should be in the region of R 150-R 300. Make a “proof” – never call it a sample. If you call it a “sample” then they will want it back. Give the customer the “proof” to sign off. If they accept the proof, they must sign on the item itself using a permanent marker. Get a 60% deposit BEFORE you print anything, because if you do the prints, and they don’t take them, what are you going to do with it? When you make the items make sure they look like the proof, and keep the proof, so that should any dispute arise you have the proof with you. This “proof” must then be returned to you

vii) The Balance of the money must be paid on collection / delivery. 4. When quoting for a job, always include these two lines in your quote: i) With this printing technology, 100% colour matching is not possible. We do however try to match the required colors as accurately as possible. E. & O.E. (Errors and Omissions Expected) The first line is to protect you against people who are difficult about wanting the absolute exact colour no matter what. The 2 nd line is to protect you in case you make a mistake in your quote and need to rectify it later. ii) When doing a print job, always write down your exact settings on the software and also on your printer, in case you need to re-print the job at some later date. Also write down the inks and paper used otherwise you will never be able to get the same colours again.
