Will Henson Partner & Head of Commercial Property Will joined Slater Heelis in 1998, qualified in 2000 and was promoted to Partner in early 2010. Will is the Head of Commercial Property and has built an excellent reputation for his keen commercial approach and his established client base includes a wide variety of private and corporate investors, landlords and tenants. He acts for a number of high-profile regional developers and has particular expertise in residential and commercial property development. Nicola Deutsch Partner & Head of Residential Development

Nicola joined the Residential Department at Cottrills in 2013 specialising in social housing development and has become an integral part of the team at Slater Heelis LLP. She headed the social housing team in the north of England whilst at Eversheds dealing with regeneration projects such as Pathfinder, then working at Trowers & Hamlins for the housing project team acting on behalf of numerous registered providers. Nicola also has public sector experience having been the in-house lawyer for a registered charitable provider and a local authority. Having worked in social housing for approximately 30 years, Nicola’s expertise is in residential development, all elements of social housing, site set ups, Section 106 Agreements, easements and property finance. Out of the office she enjoys reading, gardening and exploring European cities.

Matthew Grellier Head of Construction & Engineering

Matthew specialises in Construction and Engineering. He has experience advising on contentious and non-contentious matters and acts for clients including developers, contractors, sub-contractors and professional consultants in a range of industry sectors. Matthew has worked with variety of bespoke and standard form construction and engineering contracts, including contracts from the JCT, NEC3 and FIDIC suites. With expertise in dispute avoidance, Matthew has worked successfully with clients to resolve disputes through negotiation and, where necessary, formal legal proceedings. He also has experience in arbitration, mediation and litigation in the Technology and Construction Court (TCC) and has represented clients in numerous adjudications.

Mike Fox Senior Partner

Mike first joined Slater Heelis in 1977, was appointed Managing Partner from 2008 to 2013 and then took up his current position as Senior Partner. Mike has been instrumental in the growth and development of the business in addition to previously heading up the Commercial Property Department. His main area of expertise is in relation to commercial landlord and tenant matters and commercial property acquisitions and disposals. Outside of the office Mike has been appointed President of the Altrincham & Sale Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber provides Business support and Business mentoring along with networking and training sessions. Mike is recognised as a recommended lawyer in the Legal 500 law directory.

Anne Irwin Consultant Solicitor

Anne has specialised in commercial property and residential development for 35 years and was a partner at both Cottrills and Slater Heelis. She now works with the firm as a consultant bringing her extensive experience and knowledge in two key areas: Residential Development – specialising in acquisition, disposal and development including complex heritage sites, the conversion of listed buildings to residential use, joint ventures and public/private sector agreements. Leisure Development – detailed knowledge of the planning, development and legal issues affecting home and holiday parks. The firm is a member of the BH&HPA. Hannah Al-Shaghana Partner

Hannah is a commercial property lawyer whose expertise encompasses all aspects of commercial property work including acquisitions and disposals, secured lending and all landlord and tenant matters. Hannah acts for a wide variety of clients including limited companies, partnerships, entrepreneurs, schools and educational providers. Notably Hannah acts for a national restaurant chain and handles all their leasehold transactions including acquisitions, disposals, licences for alterations and surrenders. She is also a member of our Schools and Academies Team. In a Legal 500 Review (2011), Hannah was described as “particularly active in leasehold matters” and “is an up-and-coming member of the team and is praised for her great communication skills”. Jay Lafinhan Partner

Jay joins the firm with extensive knowledge and experience in all areas of commercial and residential property law. He acts for a variety of clients including property investors, developers, corporate investors, private landlords, corporate landlords, commercial property portfolio managers, mainstream lenders as well as private corporate lenders. He also specialises in acting for lenders on short-term development loans, bridging finance and for private property developers. With the high-level of experience and expertise he has acquired throughout his career, Jay provides an efficient, knowledgeable and user-friendly service to all the clients he acts for.

Germaine Peters Associate Solicitor Prior to joining Slater Heelis LLP in 2013 Germaine was an Associate Solicitor in the Property Department at Cottrills. She specialises in commercial property work and alongside Faye has acted in a variety of property transactions ranging from corporate acquisitions and disposals to occupational lettings. She advises Landlords and Tenants, including corporate occupiers and public bodies. She has also acted for both developers and investors (including private investors and pension funds) in freehold and leasehold acquisitions. Out of the office she is passionate about scuba diving and is a PADI SCUBA Divemaster. She also enjoys skiing and playing golf (albeit badly). Camilla Thornberry Associate Solicitor Camilla is an Associate Solicitor in the Commercial Property department and based at our Manchester office. She has extensive experience of general property work, with particular knowledge of residential development including site acquisitions and disposals, and setting up sales schemes. She has particular experience of clients in the social housing sector, as well as local authorities, private developers and national housebuilders. Outside of the office she regularly volunteers with a Manchester charity, The Mustard Tree, helping out in their Friday soup kitchen. Camilla also enjoys walking, music, travel, reading and furthering her Italian linguistic skills.

Lucy Porter Associate Solicitor

Lucy qualified with city law firm Richards Butler and worked for a number of years for Halliwells and DAC Beachcroft in Manchester before spending 4 and a half years working in the real estate team of Warrington Borough Council. Lucy returned to a private practice role at Shoosmiths in Manchester before joining Slater Heelis in September 2014. Lucy is a commercial property lawyer who has experience of working for a range of clients in relation to a wide variety of work, including commercial acquisitions and disposals, landlord and tenant matters and secured lending.

Victoria Wright Associate Solicitor

Victoria is a commercial property lawyer whose expertise encompasses all aspects of commercial property work including development, acquisitions and disposals, secured lending, insolvent property transactions and all landlord and tenant matters. Victoria acts for a wide variety of clients including limited companies, partnerships and entrepreneurs. Notably Victoria acts for the largest union in Europe and handles all their property requirements, including their recent £35m hotel and conference centre development and all other acquisitions, disposals, leases, licences and surrenders. Richard Bradbury Associate Solicitor Richard is an associate solicitor in the Commercial Property department and joined the practice in October 2015. He specialises in landlord and tenant matters as well as the acquisition and disposal of commercial properties. Richard acts for a wide range of businesses and individuals including sole traders, SMEs, institutional landlords, property investors, pension funds, property developers, the retail and leisure sector, nurseries as well as academies and schools. Ceri Jones Associate Solicitor Ceri qualified in 2012 after obtaining her law degree and LPC from the University of Wales Aberystwyth. After undertaking her training in North Wales, she moved to Liverpool post qualification where she worked at a city centre law firm. She joined Slater Heelis in June 2015 as a Solicitor within the Commercial Property Team. She specialises in residential development work and has successfully completed thousands of transactions. Ceri manages the Plot Sales team and also runs a case load of Residential property files. Outside, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, travelling andꢀcamping.

Ruth Pickering Paralegal Ruth joined Slater Heelis in October 2011 as an administrative assistant, working her way up the ranks to become a paralegal in April 2016. Based in our Manchester office, Ruth started in the Plot Sales Department in November 2016 specialising in residential development work; successfully assisting Ceri Jones with hundreds of transactions.

Albert Mould Trainee Solicitor

Albert joined Slater Heelis in May 2018 and up until his training contract, worked as a Paralegal in the Residential Development team assisting on a wide range of social housing projects. Prior to that, he worked in an AMLaw 100 law firm advising solicitors on potential conflict of interest and sanctions pitfalls on a day-to-day basis. Albert completed the GDL at the Manchester Law School (MMU) with a Dean’s List Award for the highest score in Contract Law. He is currently studying the LPC with the University of Law and undertaking his training contract at the same time. Further to his legal work, Albert also speaks three languages: English, French and Akan. In his spare time, he loves to read, play football and travel.
