IMPORTANT WAYS TO HELP IMPROVE YOUR SUNDAY SCHOOL

Evaluate and improve the grouping (number of classes and students per class) of the Sunday school. Are you add ing new classes and departments? 14. Evaluate the classroom area distribution. Would some classes be better if held in differ­ ent rooms, e.g., the nursery? 15. Evaluate and improve the record system as it relates to the records of each individual. 16. Evaluate and improve the absentee visitation program. Is there a means for workers to re­ port visits ? 17. Evaluate and improve the prospect visitation program. 18. Evaluate and improve the student visitation program. Do your teachers visit every member in their classes at least once a year? 19. Evaluate and improve the cradle roll department of the Sunday school. Are new babies constantly being added? 20. Evaluate and improve the visitation program of cradle roll

Y es — i t is possible to improve your Sunday school! An im­ portant key to this improvement is evaluation. The Sunday school that evaluates its present pro­ gram and maps out a plan for im­ provement will be a better school. Try the following thirty-two ways to improvement : 1. Evaluate and improve the concept of the teaching ministry of the Sunday school. Are work­ ers appointed who give positive evidence of being Christians, of being interested in serving the Lord and in becoming efficient in their task? 2. Evaluate and improve the relationship of the Sunday school to the total Christian education program o f the church. Do you have team conferences with mem­ bers o f other agencies to avoid duplications or omissions in the total Christian education pro­ gram? 3. Evaluate the attitude of the workers toward their responsi­ bility in the Sunday school. Do your workers accept their posi­ tions as God’s will for them — a responsibility that He has given them?

4. Evaluate the use of the worker’s covenant. Does it mean anything to your workers ? 5. Evaluate and improve the means of recruiting workers for the Sunday school. Are they in­ structed as to their responsibili­ ties? 6. Evaluate the attendance of your workers at the Sunday and midweek services. Do they sup­ port their church by regularly at­ tending these meetings ? 7. Evaluate the attendance of your workers at Sunday school each week. Are they faithful ? 8. Evaluate and improve the workers’ conferences. Are these a help and inspiration to the teachers ? 9. Evaluate and improve the leadership training program of the church. Is the program well planned and consistent? 10. Evaluate the participation of w orkers in the leadership training courses. Aim for 100 per cent participation. 11.
