Sinkholes in Florida are areas of limestone that cave into the natu- ral springs. Some of these become swimming attractions. I brought my drawing pad and worked on the lush landscape at Rainbow Springs. The trees are covered in Spanish moss. Diversity is everywhere; the crickets are singing, and the whole jungle is teaming with life.
In the evening, we went to the Heartwood Soundstage in Gaines- ville. I had the same drawing pad from earlier, including the land- scape drawing I had just made. I decided to merge the drawings of the musicians with the landscape. Later, I took the photos from the scene and created a version on the iPad. This is the composition that was painted in oils.
