Bear Creek , oil on canvas, 6 ft. x 5 ft, by Ste- phen Shooster is based on a drawing from 2014. During the pandemic, I chose to turn this into a large oil painting because were were locked down. The painting depicts a vibrant and energetic depiction of the afterparty at the Bear Creek Music Festival . The painting is ren- dered in a style that is reminiscent of both fau- vism and expressionism. The fauvist influence is evident in the use of bold colors and simpli- fied forms, while the expressionist influence is evident in the way that the artist has captured the energy and excitement of the moment.

Bear Creek is a music festival held at the Sawnee River Campsite in Live Oak, Florida. It is particularly intriguing because of the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic and the lack of music festivals and gatherings. The painting depicts a campfire party late in the eve - ning of the festival. The party went on until dawn.
