/otvtt More than 200 alumni of The Bible In stitute of Los Angeles attended the school's first annual Homecoming, January 9, 1959. The morning activities were similar to those of a regular college student, fol lowed by a luncheon at noon. In the after noon, there was time for fellowship, tours, and class reunions at the La Mirada Campus, with a banquet in the evening. A basketball game climaxed the day. Dr. Samuel H. Sutherland is pictured below with alumni, Drs. Roy (left) and Ralph Kraft of the Santa Cruz Twin Lakes and Watsonville First Baptist churches respec tively.

Ground breaking ceremonies for the new Rose Memorial Library highlighted recent activities on the BIOLA La Mirada Campus. Pictured below is Mr. Daniel Rose turning the first shovel-full of dirt for the structure.

Pictured is a panoramic view of the new structure on which work is now diligently going forward, so that it will be ready for use by the September, 1959 moving date. We continually thank the Lord for the gra cious and generous gift of Mr. Daniel Rose. * * * * * The Rose Memorial Library will cost approximately $125,000 and is being built by Myers Brothers Con struction Company, designed by Arch itect William C. Ullrich, A .l.A . The structure w ill hold more than one hundred thousand volumes, accommo dating a student body of 1500.

During the evening banquet, Rev. Marv Francine, P r e s id en t of the Alumni Association, presented Dr. Sutherland with a check for $8000 from the Alumni fund, to be used for the present building projects. As soon as the money is available for the Alumni Center, the money w ill be credited to that project.

Work continues to move forward on BIOLA's new full-time radio station, KBBI. Construction has been supervised by Mr. David Crane, missionary radio construction engineer, who contemplates the establish ment of a Missionary Radio Station in Trinidad. It is expected that before many weeks, this powerful Southland FM Radio Station will be on the air with programs of wide interest and outstanding Christian broadcasts.

Dr. Louis T. Talbot also turns a shovel of dirt for the new building. Looking on are, from left to right, Dr. Sutherland, Business Manager J. R. Allder, Board Member Sy l ves t er Marshbum, Board Chairman Ray A. Myers, Librarian Arnold Ehlert and Mr. Rose. November 25, 1958, the Lord called home one of His faithful ser vants, Dr. Frank A. Lindgren, who served on the ministerial staff of The Church of the Open Door for more than twenty years. His mes sages- of comfort to the bereaved will be sorely missed. December 28, 1958, Mrs. Evelyn Moore, beloved wife of BIOLA fac ulty member Dr. George Moore, entered into the presence of the King. Mrs. Moore was deeply inter ested in youth and was active in the women’s circles of the Friends Church. She had been very serious ly ill for more than three years. “Absent from the body, present with the Lord.”

Pictured above are Dr. Sutherland with Student Body President Stuart “ Pick” Cunningham, and the King’s Daughters President Marietta Pitt man, two young people largely re sponsible for the success of the first annual Homecoming event.

Rev. Ralph Hetrick, BIOLA alum nus and pastor of the Calvary Church of Pacific Palisades, California, pre sents a check for $1,000 to Dr. Suth erland, to be used for the campus building program. The gift was made from the church’s missionary fund to help in the training of young people for service around the world. THE KING'S BUSINESS
