W5 – ADOPTING TECHNOLOGY TO AUTOMATE YOUR PAYROLL

She discussed: ● NMW risks which are currently in the spotlight ● risks HMRC may focus on in the future ● the technical pitfalls of NMW ● examples of unintentional errors.

In this session, there was discussion of how to embed a technology strategy to automate, simplify and extract more from the payroll process.

It focused on the three stages of payroll, so data gathering, analysis and data extraction.

W3 – SHAPING THE FUTURE OF PAYROLL Ana Laiu MSc FCIPPdip

Ways in which technology can help to reduce errors were also explored, to help manage the entire end-to-end process more successfully.

As we all know, payroll is constantly changing and shifting.

In this workshop, Ana discussed: ● the pandemic and payroll

● whether payroll should be an independent or shared identity ● current workforce trends and the future implications for payroll ● inspiring the next generation. Ana gave a lovely anecdote around delivering an update to her daughter’s primary school class about what payroll is. She explained: “Who loves video games? Well, I make sure you get those video games, as my job is to pay your Mummy and Daddy the right money, so they can buy you those games.”

Ana’s parting quote was: “We need to make payroll sparkle”.
