ECCO - Fall/Winter 2025

A Note from Jen

My Paddle Journey

This fall marks my 10th year of playing paddle tennis, and I can honestly say this sport has changed my life. When I first started, I was on the lowest division team— just learning the ropes and trying to keep up, I didn’t even know how to keep score! Over the years, with a lot of practice (and plenty of missed shots along the way), I’ve worked my way up to the top division here at ECC. What I love most about paddle is that it challenges both your mind and body. The strategy keeps you sharp, while all the footwork and movement really push you physically. But more than that, paddle has given me a wonderful community. I’ve made lifelong friends on the courts and shared so many laughs—whether at practice, during matches, or over a post-game drink. Along the way, I’ve also had the chance to attend paddle tournaments around the area—which is a whole different level of excitement. The competition is always tough, but the energy and atmosphere make it such a blast. And yes—I’m proud to say I even won a tournament or two! The victory was such a rewarding reminder of how far I’ve come since my first season. And finally, this sport has taken me on adventures beyond ECC! I’ve been lucky enough to attend two paddle camps—one in Telluride, Colorado, and one in the Adirondacks. Both were incredible experiences where I learned a lot, played hard, and got to hang out with my ECC friends. Paddle tennis has become more than just a sport for me—it’s a passion, a workout, a stress reliever, and a social outlet all in one. I’m so excited for another season ahead at Edgewood, and I hope many of you will join in the fun. Who knows—you might just find yourself falling in love with the game like I did!
