Talent4Startups Programme with Digital Africa

AfriLabs partnered with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to conduct a comprehensive Landscape Analysis of AI Innovations and policies in Africa. This initiative aims to map out the AI startup landscape across the continent, leveraging AfriLabs’ extensive datasets and expertise. In addition, the project critically analyzes existing AI ethical policies and strategies, its implementation, and implication to African innovators and entrepreneuras, while delving into the challenges faced by other countries in the development of contextualized AI policies and regulations. The project is set to engage over 80 AI professionals through focus group discussions and create job opportunities for AI and research experts across Africa.

Securing $140,000 from Digital Africa, AfriLabs launched the Talent4Startups programme to address the challenge of recruiting qualified talent for startups in Africa. Through strategic collaborations with tech hubs in Nigeria, Kenya, Egypt, Cameroon, and South Africa, the program aims to train 250 youths in data analytics, web development, and digital marketing. Additionally, it seeks to place 80% of participants in job roles within startups across the continent, youth capacity building and employment opportunities.
