Talking Points - Automatic enrolment update 17 May 2017

Business advisers can join The Pensions Regulator online on Thursday 18 May at 1pm for an update on the year ahead.

HMRC’s Talking Points meetings aim to help make things easier for Agents and their clients, by providing up-to-date information, guidance and tips.

This meeting is for business advisers who are managing clients’ automatic enrolment (AE) duties on their behalf. This update from The Pensions Regulator will cover the rule changes scheduled for this financial year, including the increase in legal minimums for pension contributions, as well as when the duties will start for new employers from October.

Delegates will have the opportunity to ask questions during the meeting (the organiser will explain how on the day).

Below the correct figures are shown in bold and the incorrect previously published figures are shown in brackets:

 TPR issued 4,673 (14,502) fixed penalty notices (FPN) of £400 for automatic enrolment non-compliance to employers in the first three months of 2017, up from 2,919 FPNs the previous quarter – the largest total issued to date.  A total of 1,043 (2,517) EPNs were issued in the quarter, up from 870 in the last three months of 2016.
