Typical Cross Sections The cross sections below are relevant to streets outside of the Judd Parkway Loop. Due to constrained rights-of-way, and the desire to maintain an urban downtown feel, sidewalks should be included on both sides of the road within Judd Parkway.
Enhanced pedestrian crossings such as this, above, can greatly enhance the feeling of pedestrian safety and decrease potential conflicts with vehicles.
The example above shows a typical two-lane collector or arterial roadway, implemented on a 60-foot cross section. Local examples include: ® Old Honeycutt Road ® Kennebec Road ® Holland Road
This rapid flashing beacon alerts drivers to pedestrians and cyclists crossing the roadway.
The example above shows a typical four-lane arterial roadway with two sidepaths, implemented on a 110-foot cross section. Local examples include: ® Sunset Lake Road ® Purfoy Road ® Hilltop Needmore Road
Wayfinding signage such as these can encourage the community to explore their favorite destinations by bike or walking.
