Regional Employment Center Site Plan Concept
The site plan concept presents one option for building a new Regional Employment Center, which is intended to be an alternative to more conventional industrial or office parks in Fuquay-Varina. A mix of uses in the same building, or within the same block, help generate activity and excitement in the Employment Center. A comprehensive and connected open space network is a defining feature of the neighborhood, and different areas of the larger Employment Cent are each focused on a discernible common green. Employees, patrons, and residents are connected by a modified grid street network that encourages walking between nearby destinations.
The design, scale, character, and intensity of development in the Employment Center emphasizes technology, creativity, and innovation, and may support a corporate headquarters, university, research and development campus, manufacturing center, or other centers of excellence and the nearby retail businesses and housing options needed for their employees. The Employment Center may also include one-of-a-kind features in the community like a “smart street” used to test and demonstrate products created by nearby businesses.
