Reflecting on the Past Year WHILE LOOKING TO FUTURE GOALS

for a long weekend of training conferences to brush up on our sales processes. We do this at least once a year to keep our skills up-to-date. The first night we went out together as a team and enjoyed a spectacular dinner and show. This helped us get into the proper state of mind for the next few days of training. The beaches were absolutely stunning, and the weather felt perfect — thankfully, we missed the hurricane. The water was a bit rough the first day, but after that, it was perfectly tranquil. I’ve also done quite a bit of personal travel this year with the family. Laura and I went to Austin for the Austin City Limits Music Festival, as well as a conference in New York City. We also frequently travel to Baton Rouge for LSU football games — I feel like I need a vacation from our vacations! Proper rest allows me to recharge mentally, and it’s always good to step away occasionally. But sometimes, too many vacations, like too much work, can get exhausting. Taking a step back and seeing the bigger picture helps you prioritize effectively and set better and more challenging goals. Finally, as the new year approaches, I try to spend quality time on my New Year’s resolutions. These are written down, and I refer to them throughout the year to ensure I stay

As the year slowly winds down, I can’t help but reflect on all the fantastic things we have accomplished this year as a team. The new facility has been the biggest event to date, and it’s so nice having all the extra room. It’s a much more pleasant environment for not only the staff and me but for our patients as well. It has been a tremendously positive change to the practice. I always try to look at the big picture rather than the short term. I feel like nothing can top the new facility, and we are now settling in and getting everyone laser-focused on our new goals. I want our space to be as optimized as possible. The following year will be focused on getting everything running as efficiently as we did in our old office. We have so much more room now, going from 4,000 ft.² to 19,000 ft.². This allows us to have an increased capacity for our patients and offer additional services.

on track. Hopefully, I’ll get to all of them this coming new year, but if I don’t, I will roll them over into the following year. One thing I know for sure — I love holding myself, the business, and my team accountable. Being

intentional with everything we do helps us to stay focused and on track. Setting goals and being the best version of ourselves allows us to find ways to adapt, leading to a more fulfilling life. –Dr. Sam Sukkar

Have You Heard of Plogging? BOOST YOUR HEALTH WHILE HELPING THE ENVIRONMENT

According to Our World in Data, the world manufactures more than 270 million tons of plastic annually. About 8 million tons of this plastic winds up in the ocean — that’s 3%! Plogging, a fad that originated in Sweden to help minimize pollution, is taking the world by storm. Essentially, you jog and pick up litter at the same time! Some cardio and a giant clean-up effort? It’s a great way to enjoy the cool winter temperatures while doing something good for the environment!

The origin of the word “plogging,” according to the Farmer’s Almanac, comes from a combination of jogging and the Swedish word for “pick up,” which is “plocka upp.” All you need is a pair of running shoes, a trash bag, stamina, some free time, and water to stay hydrated! If you’re interested in taking up the hobby or plogging every now and then to make a difference in our environment, here are some tips to keep the activity fun and interesting!

join the initiative together. If you’re up for it, you can even make it a contest!

Add in different exercises. Plogging doesn’t only have to incorporate jogging — while gathering trash; you can do squats, burpees, lunges, or even pushups. Switch up arms. While plogging, holding the garbage bag in the same hand can become uncomfortable, especially as that bag gets heavier! Be sure to change which arm holds it from time to time! Incorporate sprints. If jogging becomes too simple for you, try sprinting between trash to intensify the activity. Plogging is a great way to reduce pollution while getting in your workout! Local parks, neighborhoods, and common areas are a great place to start!

Plogging can be done with others, at any time, and pretty much anywhere litter or trash exists. It’s a win-win!

Head out in groups.

Everything is more fun with others! Round up a group of friends, family, or coworkers and

Bringing You Into Proportion

Look as Natural as Possible

If your chin is too small in relation to your other facial features, a chin augmentation may be precisely what you’re looking for. Many people feel nervous that a chin augmentation will make them look too big, but that’s not the case. We think of it as bringing you into proportion. A chin augmentation can dramatically improve the appearance of your entire face while still keeping that natural beauty that you already have. When it is performed correctly, the procedure can achieve the following: • Correct a recessed chin • Soften an overly pointed or square chin • Balance out a prominent nose • Create a more defined jawline • Sculpt a more attractive facial profile

Hey Alexa, Am I Sick? A NEW HEALTH APP IN THE WORKS

You might be able to tell when you’re getting sick just by talking — your voice may sound raspy or strained. You can gain insight into a person based on their speech. Researchers at the National Institutes of Health are developing an app that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to determine if you’re ill — all by studying the voice. Voice data is being collected in five areas of health concerning neurological, voice, mood, respiratory, and pediatric disorders. The team of experts hopes to obtain 30,000 voice samples to improve the accuracy and algorithm of the app so it can diagnose multiple kinds of health conditions and disorders. Dr. Yael Bensoussan, the director of the University of South Florida’s Health Voice Center and the leading researcher on the study, stated that vocal vibrations and breathing patterns can

provide tons of information about your overall health. For example, if someone were to speak low and slow, it could be a sign of Parkinson’s disease. Scientists even think they can diagnose depression or cancer by analyzing and studying a person’s voice. So, how would this app work? According to Fox 13 in Tampa, you can speak into your phone, and the app will record your voice and cross-examine it with its voice collection database. While this may be new to some, researchers in Australia developed a voice screening app that can detect Parkinson’s disease and COVID-19. But what makes Dr. Bensoussan’s study and app different than her competitors is that she aims to keep data privacy at the forefront of her research.

of people. Dr. Oliver Elemento, a co-investigator and director of the Englander Institute for Precision Medicine, told Fox 13 that “future findings could lead to a revolution in health care, where continuous voice monitoring could alert physicians earlier than currently possible to certain conditions.” It’s important to note that this app is in the early stages of development and is not a total replacement for a medical professional. If you need medical assistance, please visit your doctor!

Scientists and researchers on the team are excited about the future and how this app will help millions

BEST CHRISTMAS TREE ATTRACTIONS TO VISIT THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

Lighting Up Life One Pine Needle at a Time TRAVEL-WORTHY CHRISTMAS TREES

The Coeur d’Alene Resort Tree in Idaho Also known as the World’s Tallest Living Christmas Tree, this grand fir holds the record at 162 feet tall. It is festively decorated with more than 40,000 lights that twinkle in time to the music of “Jingle Bells,” and the tree is crowned with a 10-foot-wide star!

As the holiday season approaches, the twinkling lights and spectacular Christmas tree attractions are always a must-see! Here are the best travel destinations to catch a glimpse of one of the pillars of the holidays. The Rockefeller Center Tree in New York City The Rockefeller Center tree is located just west of 5th Avenue from 47th through 51st streets in New York City and dates back to the Depression era, with the first tree placed there in 1931. This beloved tourist attraction draws thousands yearly with its dazzling lights and grand scale. To even be considered a contender for this role, a tree must be at least 65 feet tall and 35 feet wide! The National Christmas Tree in Washington, D.C. This American favorite has long been a tradition. Every year, the ceremony begins with live performances by musical artists, and an annual highlight is when the president delivers a message of peace. President Calvin Coolidge was the first president to light the National Christmas Tree in 1923. The tree was 48 feet high and decorated with 2,500 red, white, and green electric bulbs. A local choir and a quartet from the U.S. Marine Band performed as the tree was lit.

The Biltmore Christmas Tree in North Carolina This majestic 55-foot Norway spruce tree is in front of the Biltmore Estate and lit as guests make their way down the path of luminaries. With ornaments and miles of garland, this tree is selected for the Banquet Hall each year for guests from all over to see. Some are lucky enough to live near or in a city with a magnificent tree, but if you don’t, consider traveling to one of these locations to enjoy the holiday with your loved ones.
