Palm Beach Ray of Hope is Turning Local Generosity into Local Impact Janet Levy’s foundation is keeping overhead lean, directing major support to Palm Beach County causes and building momentum for its next season of philanthropy.
For Janet Levy, philanthropy should be measured by what actually reaches the people a charity is trying to help. That principle shaped the Palm Beach Ray of Hope Foundation, which Levy founded in 2024 with a group of local supporters committed to keeping expenses modest and impact close to home. The calendar also includes smaller programs with equally concrete aims. On November 24, Ray of Hope plans a Thanksgiving giveaway of complete family meals, including turkeys, pies and gift cards, for Palm Beach- area households in need. Recent “Naughty or Nice” and New Year’s Eve gatherings at Stage also raised support for local veterans.
One of the foundation’s biggest efforts has been its support of veterans through Tunnel to Towers Foundation. After raising approximately $1.7 million at Dancing with the Palm Beach Stars, Levy said the foundation presented a $1.5 million check designated to support veterans in Palm Beach County. The next goal is even more ambitious: creating a local veterans village. Levy and her team are searching for land or an existing property that could be developed into housing for veterans, with developers already expressing interest in helping. The proposal follows the Tunnel to Towers model of pairing housing with practical assistance. Its veterans villages provide single-room occupancy
